If Democrats somehow win a trifecta in November, will they pass student loan relief in 2025? Similar to the 400 billion plan that would have forgiven up to 20k in student loan debt?

They would pass it in 2026.  Bribery is for election years.

They'll pass enough to make a difference for a lot of people, but still piss a lot of people on both sides off that it's either too much or not enough.

One of the big issues is that student loan forgiveness is only tax-free until the end of next year. The American Rescue Plan Act made student forgiveness tax-free until the end of 2025, though President Biden does want to make that permanent.

I would look at what he has actually done and tried to do. The maximum of $20k in debt relief was only for those that received Pell Grants in college. In other words, for those that came from families with limited means. The max $10k was for everyone else. However, with both groups, it was only for those below a set income level. In other words, if you had Pell Grants, but managed to become an MD making $200k/year, the forgiveness was not for you.

He's trying some different things under the Higher Education Act, such as the SAVE Plan. Depending on income, that plan can result in the government paying the interest on your loans so that you don't keep falling behind even when you pay the minimum. It also offers full debt forgiveness for loans under $12k in 10 years (with incremental increases per $1k). It seems like that aspect of the plan is trying to community college free for that already attended.

No. They'll come up with some excuse for why they can't pass it, just like the Democrats always do.

No, and it seems likely this cause will become dramatically less popular given the current behavior of college student protestors.

This depends on the will of the special interest donors. If the donors are willing to have something passed, they will go ahead and give Senators permission to circumvent the filibuster if necessary; if the donors are unwilling to have something passed, they will tell Senators not to change the filibuster for that item.

Hickenlooper supports student loan relief, but then again he is up for re-election in 2026....

Topic creator, start a poll on this question!

Nah, the bond markets will probably force some sort of sanity on them. Plus they'll have had to deal with the Trump tax cuts expiry so big giveaways to annoying kids and failed adults probably won't fly.

So giving giant tax cuts to Corporate especially oil companies is better than helping the poverty.

Do you know Jerry Jones of Dallas Cowboys supports Trump because of his oil tax cuts

Trump didn't work for his money he inherited it from his Dad if all of us inherited money from our parents, which I didn't get my inheritance, because it's nothing you can do when someone dies
