Breaking news this is fox 13 in Seattle the final margin in the Washington gubernatorial race appears to be just 348 votes after a few more ballots were counted it slightly helped Gregoire but not by very much but since rossi is not up by more then .5% there will be a recount.

But governor elect Rossi seems to support a recount saying that he does want every vote counted and that he expects to remain on top.

BREAKING NEWS
This is a FOX NEWS ALERT

Hello and I’m Brit Hume so in the close Washington gubernatorial race we haven’t been able to make a call but we now calling the race DINO ROSSI IS GOVERNOR ELECT that is based on the fact the fact the recount has completed and that Dino Rossi is still ahead by 324 votes. No word on If Christine Gregoire has conceded yet but we just don’t see anyway for Gregoire to make up that margin.

Dino Rossi actually becomes the first republican Governor elected in 24 years and the last time Washington had a republican Governor was 1985.

There are many people who are saying he is a possible 2008 or 2012 presidential contender but we I’ll have to see how he does as governor first.

I really don't think Gregoire would concede with the race so tight (Keep in mind IRL Rossi didn't concede until June).

After the second count the margin is still over 300 votes unlike in real life where it was like 50.

Breaking the AP has learned from GOP house insiders that they heard some talk 3 weeks ago about Dennis Hastert sexually abusing Teenage boys, so the GOP investigated and they seem to think the reports are true so they told Dennis that if he did not resign they would vote him out as speaker and vote him out of the house. Dennis agreed to resign, now from our sources inside the GOP here are the front runners for Speaker of the house.

                                        BREAKING NEWS

Slade Gorton has just stated he will not run for Re-election in 2006, Slade Gorton who has been in and out of Congress since 1980 nearly lost in 2000 holding on by only 628 votes against Congresswoman Maria Cantwell.

The democrats reportedly were already trying to talk Christine Gregoire into running against Gorton it will be interesting to see if she runs now that Gorton is out.

The republicans most mentioned in the event that Gorton step down are....
State senator Don Benton.....
Attorney General Rob McKenna.....
Governor Dino Rossi....

No word on if any are interested but GOP insiders say it’s very unlikely that Rossi runs especially since he just became governor.

BREAKING NEWS
We at the Columbia can comfirm that state senator Don Benton will run for the senate seat held by retiring senator Slade Gorton.

We have this picture of Don Benton filling out paper work to run for senate

Don Benton who has been a state senator in the Vancouver Washington area for 12 years is a very good recruitment for the republicans. But he does start as the underdog since Washington does lean Blue and that it’s a midterm with Bush as President but the election is still 18 months away.
