It's Boehner solely on the strength of that video he made smoking with Obama and that audiobook where he drank and cursed.

Gingrich and it’s not even remotely close given he actually got a lot done as speaker with a Democratic President. Going with Boehner here is basically choosing vibes over substance because Boehner got no where near the amount done with Obama as Newt got with Clinton .

Now Boehner could have been better in different circumstances (If republicans took both houses in 2010) and you had a less liberal Democratic president but at the end of the day results are what matter and Newt had way better results than Boehner

Boehner and Ryan (as much as I despise Ryan on policy) didn't do any lasting, institutional damage, while Gingrich, Hastert, and McCarthy did a great deal of it. Of course McCarthy's institutional harm ended up becoming his undoing. I voted Boehner due to the fact that he had a Democratic President and Senate keeping his worst impulses in check the entire time he was speaker, while Ryan managed to get his Tax cut passed when the balance of power in Washington shifted in his favor.

Mike Johnson by process of elimination.

Based on where he stands on the issues and due to the fact that he's a key election denier, I don't think even that'll be enough to keep him above the rest.

Well in terms of who had the most influential persona, Newt Gingrich.  Looking at the Time Magazine vault in 1995, there was so much hype and so much talk about him that Bill Clinton become the 2nd most powerful man in Washington.  Also, from a historic standpoint, he did end 40 years of Democratic rule in the House.  The "Contract with America" also provided clear messaging and was considered so successful that Democrats tried to copy it in 2006 with its "6 for '06" messaging.

The most likable and good and decent of these?  Well it ain't Dennis Hastert lol.

I guess Boehner or Ryan by default… no good choices here.

It’s also telling if you asked people to make a list of the best Democratic speakers since Gingrich Tongue

Which party has been more stable…

Despite all my disagreements with him, Boehner was personally likable, was genuinely in the interest of negotiating and legislating, and had a human side we don't often see from politicians. Even the jokes about him crying were hitting below the belt, in my opinion; liberals shouldn't encourage the notion that men aren't allowed to display emotion in public.
