Vice-President Rubio's Interview with Meet the Press' Chuck Todd

Source : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNyOk3kYI4g

Todd : Ladies and gentlemen, please give a welcome to our next guess, Vice-President and candidate for the Republican presidential nomination Marco Rubio. Mr. Vice-President, thank you for joining us.

Rubio : Thank you, Chuck.

Todd : Mr. Vice-President, your party recently made significant gains in November's gubernatorial elections by winning the governorships in Kentucky and Louisiana as well as the LG, AG, SOS races in these states as well as in Mississippi and managed to maintain Utah's 4th congressional district in the context of the special election there. Do you think these victories will increase your party's chances of winning next year's presidential election?

Rubio : Well, of course those victories will put us in good position to win the presidency in 2024. Because we made gains in Kentucky, Louisiana and Mississippi. And the reason we won in these states is because the Democrats running there were out of step with local voters as they supported higher taxes and stricter gun control. And by winning those races, we demonstrated that more people are orienting towards conservatism, to free market, small government and defense of the Second Amendment. We also made those victories possible thanks to George Hanks' SCOTUS nomination, thus mobilizing our base ahead of these elections. As a result, it has the potential to mobilize our base by keeping getting things done and that also requires nominating the right person as the Republican nominee and that person is myself due to my experience, accomplishments and ability to appeal among Hispanics and young people.

Todd : Next month, the United States are going to send Artemis 2, a crewed space mission, on the Moon. As President, what will be your main priorities in terms of space exploration?

Rubio : My main priorities in terms of space exploration will be space exploration will be, notably, the exploration of Mars and I plan to make sure that the United States will be the first country to send a crewed mission to Mars and we engage to do it by 2030 before the Russians and the Chinese. Under my presidency, we will also work hard to successfully explore Titan, the largest moon of Saturn, through the New Frontiers program in order to study prebiotic chemistry and to investigate Titan's potential habitability. With this mission, we also have the potential to investigate the presence of oil and fossil energy in Titan because Titan has even more oil than Earth. So this mission can also represent a great opportunity for America to develop technologies that could help us to exploit those sources of energy for the sake of our economy and secure energy dominance and energy independence. Such exploration mission will be done with the Artemis program and will be launched in 2026. That's how America will keep its status as the leader in space exploration during my presidential leadership.

Todd : In the last few months, you compared Turkey's denial of the Armenian genocide to Holocaust denial. Due to Turkey's invasion of Northern Syria to eradicate the Kurds there in 2019, do you worry that Recep Tayyip Erdogan could be attempting to commit genocide against the Kurds?

Rubio : Of course it's a very serious concern. Because any genocide of any kind is a crime against humanity. If that happens, we're going to toughen sanctions on Turkey and cancel arms deals to Turkey in order to prevent them from using these weapons against the Kurds. We need to stand up for the freedom and integrity of all peoples on Earth because the United States are strong champions of the defense of democracy, freedom and human rights and all of our allies can count on us if the proposed Tehran Pact is ratified, which will prevent and or condemn any incursion by Turkey and Russia thanks to the combination of the military powers of all of the members of the Tehran Pact.

Todd : Vice President Rubio, thank you for joining us and good luck for your campaign.

Rubio : Thanks, Chuck.

December 9 - Andrew Cuomo on The Rachel Maddow Show

Source - MSNBC

Rachel Maddow - "Tonight, we're joined by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo. Governor, thank you for joining us. You've decided to jump into the campaign pretty late, but, your first month has gone quite well. How would you say things are going?"

Andrew Cuomo - "Thanks for having me, Rachel. Very well, honestly. We have a lot of great volunteers and a great team, and a strong donor base. We've done so much work in New York State. Gay Marriage, Gun Control, Infrastructure Work, Fighting against this Trump administration...I think it's going to become clear that I'm the best guy for this job."

Rachel Maddow - "What would you say differentiates you from the other few Democrats in the race?"

Andrew Cuomo - "I have critical leadership experience in vital positions. I've spent my entire life serving the people of this country, and I'm ready to be Commander in Chief. We've made so much progress in New York, but, it's time we bring this to the country. And I know that if the DNC nominates me, I'll be the best guy to take down whatever Republican the GOP nominates."

Rachel Maddow - "Good to hear. POLITICO had a report this morning that had many talking - saying that you've started talking to other New York State Democrats about possibly resigning as Governor if your campaign picks up even more. Is this true?"

Andrew Cuomo - "I think it'd be fair to New Yorkers, yes, but let's win Iowa and New Hampshire first. I don't think it'd be fair to be a do-nothing Governor, so, if my campaign is in a spot where we're winning and it looks like we'll be the nominee, I may exit my seat as Governor to focus on the campaign."

Rachel Maddow - "Interesting. One final question - what would you say is the most important issue for you?"

Andrew Cuomo - "A $15.00/hour minimum wage. The workers of this country deserve a living wage, and one that honors their work and everything they do for this country. It's time we get rid of this trickle-down economic mess, and start paying our hardworking Americans more. Regardless of if it's a white-collar or blue-collar job."

Rachel Maddow - "That's all the time we have tonight, thank you for joining us, Governor!"

Tammy Duckworth Endorses Candidates in House Special Elections

In the lead up to the special elections in California and Idaho, Tammy Duckworth released the following video statements on social media:

"Rebecca Casper has served the people of Idaho Falls as a mayor, cultivating a culture of innovation, job growth, and results oriented politics. She has been a leader in clean energy, advocating for nuclear power, oversaw the city expanding high speed internet for all, and will continue this work in Congress. I look forward to working with her to get results for the people of Eastern Idaho."

"The people of California's 18th district deserve a representative that can fill the shoes of Senator Anna Eshoo. We need an advocate for net neutrality, affordable housing, and protections for the LGBTQ community. Scott Wiener has been that advocate in the state senate, and I believe he is the best choice for the district."

Merkley 2024: Building Our Future

December 1-5: Merkley campaigned in Iowa these days, turning fire on Rubio's recent interview and lambasting the Republican Party's love of fossil fuels.

Quote
"I agree, space exploration is absolutely necessary, and it's a key part of any Demcoratic platform, but the purpose should not be simple to further our addiction to fossil fuels like oil. The Vice President, as if it wasn't obvious before, is obsessed with big oil companies. Not much of a surprise, consdering where his support comes from.

Instead of focusing on oil production and destroying our environment, why not instead focus on building up clean energy projects? Alternative fuel, like the ethanol made right here in Iowa, is friendly to the environment and can slash our emissions if introduced on a national scale. But of course, the Republican Party is controlled by oil companies and denies the science of climate change."

December 6-11: These days were spent campaigning in Minnesota, where Merkley focused his visits on both impoverished neighbourhoods and college campuses, attempting to play up his base of working class and youth voters. On the last day, he travelled down to Illinois to appear at a rally for Congressional candidate Marie Newman, endorsing her over Dan Lipinski.

Quote
"Dan Lipinski opposes a woman's right to choose, LGBT rights, immigration rights and Medicare for All. In a district like this, it is unconscionable that he has been able to hold onto power for so long. Last year, Marie lost by just 2,000 votes. This year, you're gonna send her to Congress, aren't you?!"

December 12-14: Merkley travelled to Idaho to endorse and campaign for Rebecca Casper, who has a chance of becoming the first Democrat elected to Congress from the state in some time. He held a joint rally with New York Governor and his opponent for the 2024 Demcoratic Presidential nomination Andrew Cuomo for the Idaho Falls Mayor.

December 15-17: Merkley travelled to California, staking out ground opposite Tammy Duckworth by endorsing London Breed for Congress, citing her work on the environment, public transportation and on housing.

Quote
"London Breed has been a tireless fighter for the issues that matter as we move forward: our housing, our environment and of course, our infrastructure. She is the best candidate for congress this year, and I am proud to endorse her for this district!"

December 18-21: The Senator travelled to Nevada these days, campaigning in Las Vegas and Reno, where he met with service workers in the various hotels and casinos of both cities, announcing his support of their continued efforts to unionize, and his push for a higher minimum wage.

December 22-27: Merkley took a break from camapigning to spend Christmas with his family in Oregon.

December 28-30: These days were spent with leading campaign staff in Oregon as Senator Merkley tried to devise a strategy for the new year. Handicapped as he is, Merkley is aware that his late start and comparatively low name recognition makes him the underdog in the race, and is looking for ways to turn that to his advantage . . .

December 31: New Years' celebrations with family in Oregon.

Tammy Duckworth December Campaign Schedule:

1st-8th: The Duckworth Campaign focuses on building support for Rebecca Casper in ID-02, with Tammy Duckworth holding a rally for Casper in Idaho Falls on following the city's example on universal internet access. Following the rally, Senator Duckworth holds town halls throughout Eastern Idaho, with events in Blackfoot, Pocatello, Burley, and Twin Falls. There, Duckworth highlights her support of expanding green jobs to the region, alongside asking voters to support Rebecca Casper for a voice in the region.

9th-11th: The campaign swings through Northern Nevada, with campaign events in Jackpot, Elko, Battle Mountain, and Winnemucca, with a headlining rally to punctuate the visit in Reno. Duckworth campaigned on a public option for healthcare and more funding for veterans. In Reno, the Senator was joined by Catherine Cortez Masto, highlighting Duckworth's plans to strengthen unions and to pass sweeping immigration reform, offering citizenship to Dreamers and making crossing the border without documentation a civil offense.

12th-19th: Tammy Duckworth spends this stretch of December in California, with a rally in Sacramento on protecting public lands. The Senator then joins State Senator Scott Wiener in the 18th district of California, working to build a strong GOTV operation. The Senator visits the HQ in Palo Alto, speaking with volunteers on LGBTQ protections needed at the federal level. For the rest of the week, Duckworth holds town halls on urban development, expansion of LGBTQ rights, and infrastructure funding, highlighting Senator Wiener's support of such initiatives.

20-23rd: The campaign stops in Iowa for rallies in Iowa City and Davenport, with town halls along the way. There, Duckworth speaks with voters on her plans for paid family leave and paid childcare, allowing women to close the pay gap. In Davenport, Duckworth announces her green energy initiative, with plans for expansion of wind and solar energy, alongside embracing nuclear to cut carbon emissions, alongside replacing jobs lost due to automation.

Source : https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3480250/At-count-vote-Marco-Rubio-grabbed-supporter-plants-huge-kiss-cheek-attends-rally-Idaho.html

This special election in Idaho's Second Congressional district is a very crucial battle for the control of the House of Representatives. Fortunately, we have a strong decent candidate qualified for the job of Representative. Dean Mortimer understands your values and knows how to defend them in the House of Representatives. Dean Mortimer worked in the mortgage banking industry. He has been active in the Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce since 1984, he launched Comfort Construction and Commerce Properties Investments LLC. So he knows what it takes to encourage economic growth and job creation and that requires fiscal responsibility, lower taxes and reducing government spending in order to ensure a strong purchasing power for the people of Idaho and to make this state a place favorable for business activities. That's exactly what we did in the last few years and as a result the Trump tax cuts encouraged strong job creation across the country, including here in the Gem State where the unemployment rate went down from 4 % to below 3 % today. Dean is also a constitutional conservative and a strong defender of the Second Amendment and the right to self defense as he voted in favor of authorizing the "Stand Your Ground" Policy and supported concealed carry without permit and as your Representative he will protect your Second Amendment rights for the sake of your freedom and your security. He knows how much life is precious and he will compassionately defend the life of the unborn through his pro-life faith. Dean Mortimer knows how to handle the education issue as he served as vice-chairman of the Idaho State Senate Committee on Education and he made strong contributions to the advancement of Idaho's education system. So he knows that a decent education system requires the promotion of school choice, which will cost families less and produce higher outcomes compared to public education. It will grant parents the power to orientate their children out of poorly-performing schools assigned by zip code and look for better education elsewhere. It will expand opportunities for low-income students—especially minorities—to attend high-quality schools that would otherwise be accessible only to higher-income families, thus increasing their chances of success and of entry into the workforce. These are all values overwhelmingly shared by voters in Idaho's 2nd congressional district and so does Dean Mortimer. He's listening to you and that's why he will defend your values in the House.

Meanwhile, we can't say the same about his opponent Rebecca Casper. As Mayor of Idaho Falls, she promoted stricter gun control laws and restricted local citizens' gun rights, which deprived them of any means of defence and of their freedom to self-defense. As Mayor, she supported Obamacare and even opposed its repeal and replacement even though it restricted your access to health care by bailing out pharmaceutical companies through taxpayers' money. In the House of Representatives, she will consistently side with Andre Carson and Chuck Schumer to take away your Second Amendment rights, to defend Obamacare and to raise your taxes. Under Casper's mayorship, the Social Security Administration raised the cost of living adjustment (COLA) in Idaho Falls by 1.6 percent in 2020, that is an average of about $24 per month for individuals. The increase for 2020 is higher than the 1.4 % average over the past decade. The cost of a new truck has gone up over 11 % per year the past 30 years. The cost for a new car has gone up nearly 9 % per year in the same time. The cost of a home has risen by 8.5 % per year in Idaho Falls in the past 24 years. Why? Because Rebecca Casper made a contribution into it by raising taxes in Idaho Falls, which weakened their purchasing power and made it a harder place to work and do business. As Mayor, she raised property taxes and in 2015-16, residents in Idaho Falls faced a 3 percent tax hike. If she can't stand up for your values, how can we possibly trust her to do so in the House of Representatives?

That's why we need you to mobilize at the highest possible number and go to the polls on January 27th to maintain our majority in the House of Representatives and elect Dean Mortimer there and he will work hard to represent Idaho, to protect your values, to ensure the continuation of the progress of the last few years, including economic growth through tax cuts and promotion of free enterprise, protection of the Second Amendment, secured borders and strong national security through a strong military and strong American leadership. And thanks to the addition of a voice in favor of our agenda, all America, including Idaho will keep moving forward into a future where peace, freedom and prosperity is possible for all Americans.

Thank you. God bless Idaho and God bless the United States of America.

Merkley unveils major endorsements

[credit: Wikimedia Commons]

"We need a progressive to take the hepm avter eight disastrous years of Republicans in the White House. Our middle class is on the verge of being hit with a knockout punch that will wreck us and yet, the Vice President is continuing to push the myth of trickle-down economics which is breaking this nation apart. Jeff Merkley has been a tireless fighter for progressive causes, and will nring those ideas to the White House!"

[credit: Wikimedia Commons]

"Like all progressives, I have been bitterly disappointed with the last 8 years of endless tax cuts for thewealthy, the gutting of Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, and the crash in funding for public education, not to mention the rollback of environmental laws and shift towards corporate government.

Senator Merkley has fought every single one of these decisions in the Senate, and has been a leader on all of our causes. I'm proud to endorse him for President."

Ivan Rodriguez campaigns on his tax cut plan in Clemson South Carolina

If we are going to get another Republican President in the White House we need to campaign on the idea of putting more money in your pockets cause I trust to spend your money better than a politician does.

That is why I am campaigning on a plan that will cut taxes for everyone and give special tax credits to certain activities and families.  I am calling for a expansion on the child tax credit and a tax credit to help small businesses.

But also we need to cut wasteful spending and make sure that we don’t ever have to raise taxes on working middle class families and businesses again.

The Democrats are saying that they want to make sure some people have to pay their fair share however what happens when there is not anymore money left to take from them?  Well they are going to start taxing you just so they can start spending more and more on more wasteful government programs and making sure that  government is always apart of your everyday life!

Well let me tell you something that is not gonna happen when I am President!

*The crowd starts to cheer and yell out “I-Rod I-Rod I-Rod!”

GOP Party Symbol Vote Result : Lion defeats Elephant Handedly, with 67 % to the Elephant’s 33 %

In a stunning result that stunned even the President, the Lion handedly defeated the old GOP symbol of the Elephant. The RNC has announced that by the time of the 2024 convention in Savannah, Georgia, the Lion will have sufficiently replaced theElephant on all Republican Party items. Establishment Republicans, such as Utah Senator Mitt Romney and former Alaska Senators Dan Sullivan and Lisa Murkowski have declared their dissatisfaction with the symbol change.

This has sparked a debate in the Democratic Party about whether to keep their Donkey symbol or change their party symbol to the Bear or Wolf, a question that is likely to be brought up in the next debate

The third Debate for both parties and the last ones before the start of the actual primaries will take place, with the Republican Debate happening on January 12th at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa while the Democratic Debate will take place on January 23rd at the University of Iowa in Des Moines, Iowa. With the fields having consolidated to just three candidates each (Republicans : Rubio, Noem, and Rodriguez; Democrats : Duckworth, Cuomo, and Merkley), many pundits agree these next debates and the primaries will be very interesting to watch.

New Senators take Seats across the Nation as their incumbents retire/resign or take a new position/Senate Majority Leader McConnell dies while Senate Minority Leader and Whip Chuck Schumer of New York and Dick Durbin of Illinois retires due to Health Reasons

Despite all three going being looked as being in the prime of their health, Kentucky Senator and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has passed away at the age of 81 from a Heart Attack on January 19th while Senate Leaders of the Democrats Chuck Schumer of New York (Age : 73) and Dick Durbin of Illinois (Age : 80) retired from their positions due to Health Reasons on January 22nd as a joint statement. The Republicans have quickly replaced McConnell with Senate Majority Whip John Thune after a week of mourning and selected Two Term Iowa Senator Joni Ernst as their new Senate Minority Leader while the Democrats have selected Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown as their new Minority Leader and Delaware Senator Chris Coons as their new Senate Minority Whip.

Newly inaugurated Kentucky Governor Jenean Hampton has selected Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron to be Mitch McConnell’s Senate replacement while Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has selected U.S. Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi to be Durbin’s replacement. It is unknown who Governor Cuomo who choose to Replace Schumer, but many agree that it boils down to Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, New York City Mayor Jumaane Williams, or U.S. Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Antonio Delgaldo. Some other new appointments to the Senate include U.S. Representative Ryan Gatti to new Louisiana Governor John Neely Kennedy’s former Seat and State Senator David Blount for Missississippi.

Along with them, Kansas Senator Jerry Moran has retired due to Health reasons along with Maine Senator Susan Collins, with Lieutenant Governor Willie Dove replacing Moran and President of the Maine Senate Troy Jackson will replace Collins. Many Pundits agree that with 24 (With Trump having selected Montana Senator Steve Daines to be the U.S. Attorney for the District of Montana with Lieutenant Governor Corey Stapleton replacing him) Special Elections now set for November, the battle for the Senate will be in full swing.

Trump’s final SOTU Address on January 21st relatively well received

On January 21st, 7 years after his first full day in office, President Trump gave his final State of the Union Address to the country, which was relatively well received and he even got in a jab of “Despite all the negative coverage, the Media couldn’t stop us and our movement and for eight great years, we, as a country, have prospered because of it”. Analysis of the speech showed that it led to a slight rise in the President’s Approval Rating. The Democratic Response, given by Former U.S. Representative, 2018 Senate Candidate in Arizona, 2020 Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee, and 2024 Senate Candidate Krysten Sinema, was received moderately, though many agree that President Donald Trump had, one again, stolen the night.

Rojava Leaders agree to hold a sit down with Assad, Secretary of State Graham, Iraq Prime Minister Turki el-Qazi, the leader of Al-Wataniya Alliance and victor of the 2022 Parliamentary Elections, and Iranian President Arsham Parsi to discuss an agreement of a free Kurdistan

The Leaders of Rojava have agreed, after several months, to a ceasefire on January 8th and begin negotiations with the leaders of Iraq, Iran, and Syria as well as Secretary of State Graham with a possible agreement being the declaration of a new Kurdish State in the Middle East on March 16th. However, President Erdogan of Turkey has declared that he will not recognize the talks as legitimate and thus, war still rages in the south of Turkey as Kurdish insurgents battles the Turkish Military in the region. President Trump has issued strict sanctions on the nation and declared that the US will not relent until Turkey has given Kurdistan independence[/b]

Special House Elections loom over Presidential Primaries

The battle for control of the House is in full swing with 13 Special Elections planned out, with the closest being the ones for CA-18 and ID-02. Many Experts believe that the results of all these races will be a good indicator of the 2024 General Election result and that we could potentially see the Democratic Party control the House after 13 years in the political wilderness before Election Day, though some remain skeptical. Still, many in the party are over joyous at these results and are plotting out their targets accordingly.

The 2024 Republican Primaries

Vice President against Governors

Now only three candidates remain in the Republican Field, with the front runners being Vice President Marco Rubio of Florida and Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota with Puerto Rico Governor Ivan Rodriguez polling in a distant third. Despite this, however, the Vice President is remarkably unpopular in the South and Plains states, where Governors Noem and Rodriguez battle it out. Analysts agree, Rubio can win the Nomination outright, but he’ll need to run the margins in the Midwest, Northeast, and elsewhere while admitting that the south isn’t his. If he diverts attention to the south too much, then the convention could likely be brokered.

However, her lead in the race is tenuous and it might fluctuate depending on the primaries as these three strong candidates run for the nomination of their party.

THIRD REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DEBATE

Source : https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/republican-presidential-debate-moments-mattered/story?id=34792910

Location : Grinnell College, Grinnell, Iowa

Date : January 12th, 2024

Moderators : Errol Barnett and Anne Marie-Green of CBS News

Barnett : Hello and Welcome everyone to the Third Republican Debate live at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. I’m one of your moderators for tonight, Errol Barnett of CBS News.

Green : And I’m Anne Marie-Green, also from CBS News. The rules are simple : The Candidates tonight are given several questions that they must answer within 90 seconds or less. A Candidate will have 45 seconds to respond if they’re directly mentioned in a candidate’s answer. We ask the Audience to not cheer and yell so the Candidates can focus. Now, let’s meet the Candidates.

Barnett : First to the Stage is the Vice President Marco Rubio of Florida, who is the stable but unsteady front runner in the field of three candidates

Green : Next is South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, the steady Second Place Candidate to Vice President Rubio and is looking to gain more ground on him with a possible win in this very state.

Barnett : Finally, there is Puerto Rico Governor Ivan Rodriguez who is at a distant third but is still determined to make a noticeable impact in this race.

Quote
Opening Statements :

General Question #1 : The vote to either replace the Elephant with the Lion as the GOP’s Symbol or keep the elephant as the party symbol has been finished and in a result that stunned many, the Lion won the result easily. Many establishment Republicans, like Mitt Romney and Will Hurd have been enraged by this vote, stating that the Republican Party has become a party of cultists while Trumpists, such as Kris Kobach and Ron Desantis have applauded the result, stating the party needed a change of pace. What is your personal opinion on the vote?

General Question #2 : On January 8th, Rojava has been able to convince its insurgents in Iraq, Syria, and Iran, to agree to a ceasefire though Turkey has refused to participate in any negotiations and continues fighting. What is your reaction to this announcement from Rojava and how would you deal with the situation and the other one involving Turkey?

General Question #3 : On January 10th, Russian Presidential Candidate Sergei Polonskyhas, who currently leads his two biggest opponents, has announced favoritism to a Republican governed United States, causing him to be called a puppet of President Trump by House Minority Whip Eric Swawell. How do you feel about the Businessman’s statements?

General Question #4 : On January 3rd, Supreme Leader, who had his office reorganized into President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on January 7th, has stated that elections will be held to determine the Vice President and Parliament of the country to help continue in his reforms. Of the Three newly formed parties, the SRK/HUNG party is the most reform and western friendly of the party. How do you feel about these announcements?

General Question #5 : On January 7th, 9th, and Yesterday respectively, the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, and Canada stated they had a vested interest in securing a trade union between themselves and the United with the leaders of Australia and New Zealand stating they themselves have an interest as well. President Trump stated he would like to discuss terms with all of these countries in one group to discuss a new trade deal that would work for all of them. As President, what would be the largest points of interest you would bring up in these talks and how would you go about them?

General Question #6 : There has been a recent upsurge in the number of dictatorships rising up across the globe, with the main ones currently being Brazil, Italy, Hungary, Argentina, and Greece. President Trump has remained quiet on the issue but many are wondering how you stand on this news and what would you do to make sure the rise of dictatorships stops quickly?

General Question #7 : This Primary season has been contentious, with you three being the remains of what was once a packed field. Due to this, many are curious about this simple question : Will you endorse the Nominee once they have been decided? If you recall this same question was asked 8 years ago and all but one Candidate, who is now the current President, stated they would endorse the Nominee with only one, former Ohio Governor John Kasich, not following up on the pledge once Trump was Nominated. Right here, right now, in front of millions at home, do all of you swear to wholeheartedly support and campaign for the eventual Nominee, even if it isn’t yourself, in the general election?

Marco Rubio Question #1 : Mr. Vice President, your polling in states such as Iowa and South Carolina as well as in most southern and plains states and even your home state of Florida shows that the Republican voters there just don’t like you while elsewhere, such as Arizona, New Hampshire, and California, you are supported wholeheartedly by many. It is clear that many in the party will refuse to support you even if you are the Nominee and are endorsed by the President. How will you campaign to those undecided to lukewarm to you in order to get their support for the primaries and general and what happens if you lose your home state of Florida?

Marco Rubio Question #2 : Mr. Vice President, this primary season has been quite contentious so far so in order to add some levity, this second question will be one for fun and the same goes for Noem and Rodriguez, though you can feel free to insert and answer your own question if need be. Who is your favorite singer and why?

Kristi Noem Question #1 : Governor, during your time in the House of Representatives, you voted for higher taxes and fees 57 times as well as leading an effort that raised Agricultural Property taxes to $135,000,000. What is your reasoning for this?

Kristi Noem Question #2 : Governor, this second question is not dissimilar to the Vice President’s, though it is somewhat different. What is your favorite movie of all time and why do you like it so much? Feel free to insert and answer your own question if need be.

Ivan Rodriguez Question #1 : Governor, you are polling in a distant third place behind Vice President Rubio and Governor Noem, yet you still believe you have a chance in this race and recent polling in states like Florida, Arizona, Alabama, Texas, and even New York agree with that sentiment. Why do you feel you are best prepared to win this primary and how will you be able to connect to any voter who is lukewarm on you?

Ivan Rodriguez Question #2 : Governor, this question is once again less contentious. Noting your prior career as a Baseball player before your governorship, in your opinion, what do you think was the best World Series and why do you think so? The 2006 World Series is disqualified due to you having participated in it. Feel free to insert and answer your own question if need be.

Closing Statement : Now, this closing statement will be different from the previous ones. On February 5th, the Republicans of Iowa will go to their local Caucus centers and support the Candidate they like the most. This your last time to state why you believe the voters of Iowa should support and vote for you. All of you have 60 second on the clock.

Green : and that’s the debate.

Barnett : We hope you enjoyed tonight’s debate and we encourage you to tune in to the Third Democratic Debate in 11 Days. Thank you and Good Night.

Guthrie : Hello and Welcome everyone to the Third Democratic Debate live at Boston University of Iowa in Des Moines, Iowa. I’m one of your moderators for tonight, Savannah Guthrie of NBC News.

Holt : And I’m Lester Holt, also from NBC News. The rules are simple : The Candidates tonight are given several questions that they must answer within 90 seconds or less. Now, let’s meet the Candidates.

Guthrie : First to the Stage is the incumbent and steady front runner Tammy Duckworth who, after months of fighting, is now perceived as the Democrats’ best chance at regaining the White House in November.

Holt : Next is New York Governor, who is clearly the favor of many establishment Democrats across the country and has indicated that he’ll resign from his position as Governor if he does well enough in the Primaries.

Guthrie : Finally, there is the relative late comer, Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley who is quickly becoming a rising star and could indeed play spoiler in several key races.

Opening Statements :

General Question #1 : Some of these general Questions will be similar to the Republican Debate a few days ago, but with a democratic spin to ask it appropriately to all of you, and there will be one or two different from the Republican Debate. First Question : The recent Republican Party symbol vote has issued a question among many in the Democratic Party, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jared Polis, who say the Democratic Party should cast out the Donkey symbol in favor of something new and fresh, such as the bear or the wolf. Would you support such a move and if so, which animal would you support in replacing it?

General Question #2 : On January 10th, Russian Presidential Candidate Sergei Polonsky has, who currently leads his two biggest opponents, has announced favoritism to a Republican governed United States, causing him to be called a puppet of President Trump by House Minority Whip Eric Swawell. Do you agree with the House Minority Whip’s statements and what do you think the statements from Sergei impact America’s future relationship with Russia?

General Question #3 : In four days exactly, the Special Election to replace Kelly Anthon in the U.S. House in Idaho’s 2nd Congressional District will take place between State Senator Dean M. Mortimer and Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper, a race that is close and could be evidence of a potential wave come november for the party. How will you endorse that Mayor Casper wins that seat and places the party at least one seat closer to winning the House in November?

General Question #4 : The situation in the Middle East is...interesting to say the least. As President, how would you handle this situation?

General Question #5 : The recent bribery charges on the Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin, has made many in the Democratic Party happy at finally gaining a victory over the Trump Administration after many months of hoping for one. How do you feel about this recent news and do you think there should be a renewed investigation into the Trump Administration due to this?

General Question #6 : On January 3rd, Supreme Leader, who had his office reorganized into President of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on January 7th, has stated that elections will be held to determine the Vice President and Parliament of the country to help continue in his reforms. Of the Three newly formed parties, the SRK/HUNG party is the most reform and western friendly of the party. How do you feel about these announcements?

General Question #7 : There has been a recent upsurge in the number of dictatorships rising up across the globe, with the main ones currently being Brazil, Italy, Hungary, Argentina, and Greece. With the President quietness on this issue, how would you make sure these countries return to a Democracy and ensure other nations don’t follow their paths?

General Question #8 : The recent shufflings of the Trump Cabinet have been quite staggering to many in the political world and many want stability to return to the White House. Thus, this question is a simple one : Who are your top three potential choices for Vice President, Secretary of State, Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of Defense, and the Attorney General and why them?

General Question #9 : This Question is basically the same as the final General Question for Republican Debate. Will you endorse and support the Democratic Nominee in the general election, even if it isn’t yourself?

Tammy Duckworth Question #1 : Senator, you are currently the front-runner of the Democratic Field after months of fighting for this position, yet many blame you for State Senator Escamilla’s loss to her opponent last November, How do you hope to rectify this error?

Tammy Duckworth Question #2 : Senator, this next question and the second questions for Governor Cuomo and Senator Merkley will be lighter and gentler in nature but you can feel free to ask and answer your own question instead. Who is your favorite author of all time and why do you like them so much?

Andrew Cuomo Question #1 : Governor, consider this question a Three Parter. 1. Many in the Progressive wing of the party dislike you and believe you wouldn’t be representative of a party of great change that the Democratic Party is becoming, due to your many ties to the establishment. How will you win over voters from that wing even if you are the Establishment’s favorite? 2. Recently, Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, has resigned from his seat in the Seat along with Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin due to Health Reason shortly after the Death of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Many are curious as to who you will replace the outgoing New York Senator with, the top choices among many being Representative Cortez and Mayor Williams, who would excite the Progressive wing for you, or Lieutenant Governor Hochul and Representative Brindisi, which would rally the establishment around you. Who are your top potential picks to replace the outgoing Senator with, why them, and when will you make the announcement of the replacement? Finally, 3. Many are curious about your statement that you might retire from the Governor position in order to fully focus your efforts on your campaign and many have cited that your amount of support in New Hampshire and several other states indicate that a great performance could indeed happen and will expect you to retire shortly once you win at least 5 or 6 states. Can you elaborate on what you meant and if you do mean you will retire if you’re doing well enough, how well will you have to do in the Primaries in order for you to completely focus your efforts on the race?

Andrew Cuomo Question #2 : Being a former District Attorney from the state of New York, what is, in your opinion, one of the best episodes of the Original Law and Order and why do you like it so much? You can feel free to ask and answer your own question if you would like that instead.

Jeff Merkley Question #1 : Senator, you entered the race later than most other candidates and have relatively low name recognition, yet many are parading you as a rising star that could outperform expectations, though many say that this race could be a semi-repeat of 2008 where a Senator from Illinois defeats a Governor from New York, with you playing as Spoiler for crucial states. Why are running and how will your campaign go from here on out?

Jeff Merkley Question #2 : Senator, what is your favorite activity when you aren’t campaigning for President or working in the Senate and why is it a favorite of yours? You can feel free to ask and answer your own question if need be.

Closing Statement : Now, this closing statement will be different from the previous ones. On February 5th, the Democrats of Iowa will go to their local Caucus centers and support the Candidate they like the most. This your last time to state why you believe the voters of Iowa should support and vote for you. All of you have 60 second on the clock.

Holt : And that’s the debate.

Guthrie : We hope you enjoyed tonight’s debate and we hope you tune in for the coverage of Idaho’s 2nd Congressional District Election in 4 days and the Iowa Caucuses on February 5th. Thank you and good night.

THIRD REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY DEBATE

Opening Statements :

General Question #1 : The vote to either replace the Elephant with the Lion as the GOP’s Symbol or keep the elephant as the party symbol has been finished and in a result that stunned many, the Lion won the result easily. Many establishment Republicans, like Mitt Romney and Will Hurd have been enraged by this vote, stating that the Republican Party has become a party of cultists while Trumpists, such as Kris Kobach and Ron Desantis have applauded the result, stating the party needed a change of pace. What is your personal opinion on the vote?

Look, I was preferable to the elephant, it's been our logo for years, but we should respect our voters wishes, the fact that this is even being debated is ridiculous, we let the people decide that should be the end of it. I think we need to worry more about how to get the economy moving, and keep America strong at home and abroad and less on an issue we've already settled.

I am so glad that we've been able to broker a ceasefire. This is what American diplomacy should be. We've defended freedom and saved lives by intervening to stop bloodshed. America cant close itself in a bubble. We'd be wrong to do so, and President Trump's ceasefire is a great pathway to success to stability in the region. Turkey, however has recently become a much more antagonistic country. They need to change their behavior or face the consequences. We cant be allied to a country that so actively opposed our attempts to bring peace and stability to the Middle East.

The businessman is entitled to his opinion, as we all are, but if he expects to get preferential treatment for his opinions than he is wrong. I hope to have friendly relations with Russia during my presidency, but we need Russia to understand that they cannot act in destabilizing ways, and I would implore Russia to become friendly with the US regardless of who the next president is.

I am obviously thankful for the democratic reforms in North Korea, and I hope that eventually the country can be a cooperative friend of the United States of America. We need to encourage the North Korean president to continue his changes to the country. We need to ensure the stability of East Asia and we are close to doing so, an open, democratic North Korea would go a long way.

My two most important interests would be protecting our farmers and those in the manufacturing industry. Both are very vulnerable groups when it comes to trade, and we must make sure that we don't harm such important and productive parts of our economy. We need to help our farmers by helping them find markets to sell their products to. We can't ignore people just because they aren't represented in Washington, I know because I wasn't represented by Washington, so I went there and changed it myself. Not everyone can do that, so I'd just say, vote for candidates who will change things, I dropped out of college to save my family business, and I entered Congress with out a college degree. I've always been underestimated, sometimes for my gender, or my education level, but I worked hard, and I could have never imagined it would take me here, to this debate stage. This is the American dream. I've been blessed with the ability to be speaking to you tonight, and I'm running to give everyone a taste of the American Dream.

These dictatorships are disturbing, as is the President's lack of concern, under a Noem administration, we won't be afraid to condemn the abuses of Human rights we're seeing across the globe, because America leads best when it leads by example. Condemnation and sanctions can be effective in stopping dictatorships, and more importantly, deterring future would be dictators. We are a nation that stands on the principles of freedom, democracy and equality, it's time we start acting like it.

I will proudly take the pledge to support the party nominee. We need to stand united in November if we are to take on the Democrats. We need to be unified to ensure that we can cut spending and government interference in American's lives in January. No one on this stage can win in November on their own, and if they are telling you that, they're lying. We need the nominee to have the support of the Party. We need to stand together, because this election is important. I will support the nominee regardless, but I am the only candidate who can win big. I'm the only candidate polling close to the Democrats right now. I will work to close that gap, even if I'm not the nominee, but I can win this election, in the way that will lift our candidates down ballot up as well. We need to win the presidency, but we also need to win other federal and local elections. I can help to boost candidates who can enter congress, or state legislatures and help us make everyday American's lives easier and more prosperous.

Kristi Noem Question #1 : Governor, during your time in the House of Representatives, you voted for higher taxes and fees 57 times as well as leading an effort that raised Agricultural Property taxes to $135,000,000. What is your reasoning for this?

When I cast that vote, South Dakota's budget was in huge trouble. We needed money, and when I supported that bill, I also supported cutting the state budget, and reducing waste. What my opponents on stage won't tell you is that sometimes, you need to raise taxes. I can't promise you the impossible, and say that I won't raise taxes. It's not true, and it's not fair to you, the American people for me to lie to you like that. What I can promise, is that if I ever do need to raise taxes, I will tell you why I'm raising them, and will cut government spending as well. I know this isn't the smartest move politically, but I don't care, because this is about honestly, and if I need to lie my way to the presidency, then I won't do it. I'm not saying I want to raise your taxes, and I'm not saying that I will. I just don't want to make promises I cannot keep. Thank you for hearing me out.

Kristi Noem Question #2 : Governor, this second question is not dissimilar to the Vice President’s, though it is somewhat different. What is your favorite movie of all time and why do you like it so much? Feel free to insert and answer your own question if need be.

Maybe a weird pick, but I've always liked Jurassic Park (laughs). My kids always loved it and watching it with them is such a special memory. It's a good movie, but the memories are what make it my favorite.

I know I can win this election. I just need a chance. I've been underestimated many times before, but I know the people of Iowa know what that's like to be overlooked or underestimated. Both Iowa and my home state have been called flyover country, or have been over looked. In a Noem administration, there won't be flyover country, red states or blue states, I will meet you where you are and try to win your vote. Everyone's votes count to me. And people know I'm the stronger candidate to take on the Democrats in November, just look at the polling. I will work hard for each and everyone of your votes. Because your voices matter. Thank you.

Ivan Rodriguez debate answers part 1

1.I respected the decision the American people made even though I personally wanted to keep the elephant but think there is stuff more important than a logo contest.  I want to how can we fix the problem of veterans returning from war? Making sure you get to keep more of your hard earn money in your pocket? How can we fix Medicare and Social Security? How can we improve and make Healthcare more affordable?

This are the questions I think Americans want to care and want to know more about.

2.Well I can go back to when I was 8 years old in 1979 in Puerto Rico watching that Pittsburgh Pirates team beat the Orioles in that year’s World Series and seeing a fellow Hispanic catcher Manny Sanguillén who during my career I was able to meet and become good friends with.  Unfortunately Manny is not in good health so please send your thoughts and prayers towards him in this unfortunate time for him.

Tammy Duckworth Pre-Iowa Schedule

January 1-5th: Tammy Duckworth will ring in the New Year with a rally in Des Moines, speaking to supporters on new leadership in The White House. After the rally, she will take photos with supporters and then meet with volunteers and campaign staff in the Des Moines HQ. The Senator will follow this with a southwestern Iowa tour, with town halls from West Des Moines to Shenandoah, meeting with potential caucus-goers in the most urban to the most rural communities, focusing on the Senator's infrastructure plan and support for better trade deals for farmers.

January 6-11th: The campaign lands in Lancaster, New Hampshire, beginning a town hall tour from there to Concord, with planned town halls in Franconia, Woodstock, Lebanon, and Laconia. This tour will be followed by a joint rally with Senator Maggie Hassan in Concord. The rally will highlight Senator Duckworth's co-sponsoring of The Equality Act, alongside her greater plan for LGBTQ protections at the federal level. The Senator will hold another rally in the state, with the trip being punctuated by a rally on healthcare in Manchester, where she will meet with volunteers in the area.

January 12-17th: Tammy Duckworth will join State Senator Wiener in the Bay Area, headlining GOTV efforts in the district. In San Jose, Duckworth will rally an energized crowd on environmental issues and Scott Wiener's work to expand green energy and reduce carbon emissions. Alongside rallying on Scott Wiener's behalf, Tammy Duckworth will also shoot an endorsement advertisement that will air in the district over this period, where she asks voters to support the state senator's run for representative. The Senator will host a large election day rally in Mountain View, speaking on urban development and the role of federal funding of public transit.

January 16-23rd: Alongside supporting state senator Scott Wiener, Tammy Duckworth will also focus on electing Mayor Rebecca Casper to the House of Representatives. She will begin this leg of the campaign with a rally in Idaho Falls, touting the mayor's success in expanding broadband and achieving tangible results for constituents in the city. Tammy Duckworth will also record an advertisement on behalf of Mayor Casper, highlighting her independent streak and work on building the economy for the region. The Senator will meet with campaign staff all throughout the district, rallying supporters, phone banking, and holding town halls on the Mayor's behalf. This stretch of the campaign will end with a rally in Boise, focusing on Rebecca Casper's support of rebuilding and expanding the district's infrastructure.

January 24th: Democratic debate.

January 25-27th: During the final days before the special election, the campaign will be all in on GOTV in ID-02. The Senator will hold several headlining rallies on behalf of Mayor Casper, with planned stops in Boise, Twin Falls, Pocatello, and a final stop in Idaho Falls. Senator Duckworth will speak with supporters on the need for people like Mayor Casper in congress to provide a check on the current President, and to allow for a representative that cares more for solutions than partisanship. Tammy Duckworth will join the Mayor for the election night watch party in Idaho Falls.

January 28-February 5th: The candidate, alongside top surrogates will spend the days leading up to the Iowa Caucuses building momentum among potential caucus-goers in the state. Tammy Duckworth will hit the campaign trail with rallies in Sioux City, Fort Dodge, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, with an election day rally in Davenport. The tone of these rallies will be positive and aspirational, focusing on election reforms, including automatic registration of 18 year olds, environmental reforms to protect areas like Iowa from even worse flooding, and expanding protections for reproductive healthcare, ensuring that no one is denied their care due to what state they live in. On caucus day, the candidate will hit the streets of Davenport, making sure potential supporters know their caucus site, and how the system works. She will host a watch party alongside surrogates like Amy Klobuchar, Tim Walz, J.B. Pritzker, and Raja Krishnamoorthi.

Ivan Rodriguez debate questions part 2

3.I think President Trump no offense to him should not try to interfer with another country’s election. We have our own rules and they have their rules we should not have a repeat of the fiasco with Ukraine from several years.

He can gives his opinion all he wants but I think Sergi should focus on his own election rather than trying to capture the opinion here.

4.I am glad that North Korea is having free and fair elections just like what it should be in democracy.

We saw that with Cuba close to were my home is and I am glad to see that more and more brutal dictatorships are going away and now the people are actually the ones voting now.

Democratic elections is the reason why I became governor of Puerto Rico after many scandals and lies of the previous govership.  I thank god everyday that I am in the position I am now.

NOEM 2024 Schedule up to Iowa

January 2nd - 10th: Week-long Tour of Iowa with surrogates, Sens. Grassley and Ernst, as well as all of Iowa's House delegation.

"Polls are showing Kristi is the only candidate who can take the Democrats down in November. We can't afford the set back of taxes, regulation, and the curbing of our constitutional rights that we see when Democrats take power. We simply can't afford that. If you want to stop Democrats from holding us back for four years, caucus for Noem in February. I love Iowa, and I would never endorse anyone who I didn't think would best represent the interests of Iowa. My friend Kristi has a strong record when it comes to cutting taxes, government spending, and listening to both her urban and rural constituents. She will be a president for all Iowans, and more importantly, all Americans!"
- Joni Ernst introducing Kristi Noem at a Sioux City rally on January 7th

January 11th -15th: Tour of SC with endorsers Nikki Haley and Tim Scott

January 16th - 19th: Campaigning in NH with Eddie Edwards

January 20th - 27th: Weeklong Campaign swing across Delaware

January 28th - February 5th: Final Swing around Iowa with the State's Congressional Delegation focusing on organization and GOTV efforts.

Endorser's Schedules:

Iowa Congressional Delegations: Criss-crossing the state, making on the ground and media appearances to boost Gov. Noem's campaign. Noem's endorsers will also pool their impressive resources in the state to boost Governor Noem's GOTV organization.

Nikki Haley: Haley will mostly spend the month crossing the state of South Carolina, using her status as a popular two-term governor to boost Governor Noem's candidacy in the state. However, she will also use her status as a respected and popular leader in the Republican party at large, and make stops in NH and DE as a Noem surrogate as well.

Tim Scott: The SC Senator will also be campaigning in the state to help Gov. Noem, as well as marshaling his resources in the state to assist the Noem campaign's GOTV operation.

Eddie Edwards: Like the other endorsers, Edwards will be making stops across his home state to help Noem win it, while also leading the efforts of the Noem campaign's operations using his base of resources and his knowledge of the state's politics.
