I beg, not another Polish Pope. We wouldn't survive that.

Yes. You're gradually secularising, socially at long last. No more rosary clutching please Smiley

How about this guy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1Nh_1ByJfs

I mean he's almost certainly not Catholic, but he's very cool and charismatic! (in more than one way I just realized)

Well, yes, he's the ideal choice. I announced that elsewhere. However, he is married.

That does not render him ineligible.

My understanding is that one must be an unmarried, Roman Catholic male.

Surprised the media isn't reporting on that old doomsday prophecy yet...

Oh dear Lord, I know. Certain types are just going to be insufferable for a while.

I suspect he has some sort of hidden mental incapacitation (dementia, Alzheimer's?) in the wings. This resignation is incredibly unprecedented and this would explain it.

I hope the new Pope is relatively young.  Whoever the youngest cardinal is has my support.

And yes I realize that's probably like 55.

I hope they pick a Chinaman. Wouldn't that be fun? A little old Asian guy walking around in the pope hat, speaking Latin? That would be such a delight.

If there truly is a loving God, he will direct the Holy Spirit to whisper "Baselios" into the ears of Cardinals everywhere.

WTF, the youngest cardinal is 53?

I imagine many people are praying for someone "young" because they fear that Malachy prophecy.

Why would a cardinal be much younger than that? They usually are or have been archbishops, who have (usually) been bishops for a while, who have (usually) been priests for a while.

The really interesting thing about Baselios wouldn't so much be his comparatively young age or his appearance as the fact that the Pope wouldn't be, or wouldn't originally have been, Latin Rite.

What about an American, Brit or Canadian? Or even a Latin American Pope. After nearly 2, 000 years its time someone not from Africa, Asia, or Europe get it. Remember there's never been a British Pope.
