August 1828 starts now.

John Randolph- Martin Van Buren 52% (-2) American Party
DeWitt Clinton-John Schulze 38% (-2) Protectionist Party
John Quincy Adams-John Sergeant 9% (+5) Protectionist Party
John C. Calhoun-? 1% (-1) Nullification Party

Assassination attempt on John Randolph
At a campaign rally last month a deranged Nullification Party member launched an attack on the American Party candidate John Randolph. He shot several times at Mr. Randolph, who is in fair condition but will have to take 1 week this month off the campaign trail in order to recover, both emotionally and physically. He is extremely lucky to be in such good shape as one more shot would've killed the man who was quickly beaten down by Andrew Jackson.

A Nullification Problem?
John C. Calhoun, the torchbearer for the Nullification Party has been absent from the trail during the last few months. Due to this his party has sub par numbers and has dismal polling in its best state, South Carolina. This in turn may help John Randolph or DeWitt Clinton, two candidates duking it out for the state's vote.

Y'all can request 1 state each for polling. PM me Smiley

News stories:

John Quincy Adams surging nationwide due to concerns over foreign policy
John Quincy Adams has gained a lot of support over the last month largely due to his foreign policy credentials. Could he overtake the President? Could he cause deadlock in the Electoral College? Could he win? All 3 of there questions are being asked everywhere from Charleston to Boston and back. If this momentum continues he may emerge as the Protectionist Party's sole relevant candidate. However, the President may be able to stage a comeback, assuming he hits the trail again.

October 1828 starts now (last turn!)

John Randolph- Martin Van Buren 53% (-2) American Party
John Quincy Adams-John Sergeant 46% (+26)  Protectionist Party
DeWitt Clinton-John Schulze 8% (-24)  Protectionist Party

Britain sinks 4 American vessels!!!

Off the coast of Rhode Island this week a group of Royal Navy vessels encountered several American Merchant vessels. Tensions have been high between America and Britain as of late so the Americans soon found themselves in a fight with the British Navy, all the American vessels were sunk and many Americans on board either drowned or were taken prisoner.

This has had a huge effect on the Presidential Election and John Q. Adams, a man viewed quite strongly in regards to foreign policy, has seen his rise magnified within his own party. The President, who has taken no action, is very unpopular and some are beginning to not only call for war with Britain, but also to impeach "floppy DeWitt". John Randolph, while still sporting the sentiment of most Americans (war) has largely saturated his support at this point and can only hope he can stop his campaign from bleeding too much come election day. This may be the closest election yet in American history.

Damn! I forgot about my reelection campaign with the 1992 and 2012 games... I apologize, Spamage, but since we are in the last turn, I'll want to make this election more special and explain the reasons of Clinton's inactivity. If it does not fit into the narrative we can scrap the idea, but I want to play with the alternate deaths of candidates:

The People's Record: President Clinton found dead this morning!

The residents of the Washington D.C awoke this morning in shock while hearing screams coming from the White House: those were the screams of the Clinton family. When Secretary of State Daniel Webster entered the President's bedroom to ask him to take action on the current British crysis, he was not able to wake up the President, since he had passed after his heart collapsed.

When questioned by the press, several White House members confessed that the President had been ill for the past two months, and he had stopped campaigning because he was unable to leave the White House. President Clinton didn't want to admit that he was unable to continue his duties, and he refused to resign his powers to the Vicepresident. As a result, his death comes off as very sudden to most of America.

Vicepresident John C. Calhoun was in South Carolina, but he is expected to return soon to take the oath of office, and his intentions are unknown. Secretary of State Webster is in control and he has already sent messages to both Presidential Candidates, Mr. Adams and Mr. Randolph.

John Schulze, Clinton's running mate, said that he wanted the Protectionist Party to face the crisis united, and he endorsed John Quincy Adams, saying he would make a great President. Whatever the result and regardless of the actions of Vicepresident Calhoun, America will have to face a difficult moment.

Will history be kind to DeWitt Clinton?

John Randolph (AM-VA)/ Martin Van Buren (AM-NY) 621,360 (51.78%) 136 Electoral Votes
John Quincy Adams (PT-MA)/ John Sergeant (PT-PA) 578,640 (48.22%) 131 Electoral Votes

Americans voted with their heart, not their head in the 1828 Election. The nation was riled up for war and voted narrowly for the only pro-war candidate in the race, despite urgings otherwise. While Adams did much better than any Federalist had in expanding out of the Northeast, he was overlooked by many westerners and southerners. He won the Northeast, which was not only his home but was also wary of yet another war with Britain, but his percentages in Southern states such as Alabama and Mississippi was under 10%.
