Say Trump runs against Bush SR in the primary in 92 instead of Buchanan and knocks off Bush SR for the nomination and then runs against Clinton and the GOP establishment with a roughly similar platform to what he has today. How would an earlier Clinton-Trump matchup have played out? Discuss with maps

Assuming you speak of Bill vs Trump:

Bill still wins.

Look at how Trump barely won [even then it's a technicality] against someone with no charisma and lots of baggage, also the strategy of taking in Centrist Rockie Repubs was a viable way back then.

Wouldn't be surprised if an LBJ-esque  EV landslide happened.

In the primaries, opponents attacked Bill's character all the time and he always rightly pointed out how pointless that line of attack is (irony's a real sonnuvabeep huh), so trump would get pwned on that front anyway.
