He has every right to run. My issue with Bernie has never been with himself. It's his hardcore supporters who act like my sister did when she was 11 whenever the Backstreet Boys were brought up. She at least never threatened to throw a tantrum if they lost a VMA award or something.

Given his age, other factors, and the high number of opponents he's running against (as opposed to just Hillary and in the beginning O'Malley in 2016) what are the chances that Bernie's campaign is gonna simply implode and fizzle out this time?

More than 50%. He'll be out after New Hampshire.

In 2016, he came in as an independent senator who had been quietly working toward progressive goals for decades.

In 2020, he comes in as the guy who lost last time.

I'll again not be supporting him.

I can't think of anyone that would lose by McGovern-like margins, but Bernie 2020 rhymes too well with McCarthy 1972.

Oh no, when is this guy going away? I wish he would. Hopefully he fails early on.

Yes how dare he run for President more than once.

I keep on having this sinking feeling that 2020 will be a repeat of 2016. Close primary between the neoliberal establishment and the progressive wing and then a Trump victory.
Ugh, Bernie...why

Ugh. Don't do this Bernie.

I have a really sinking feeling about this. I like him, I think he's a great guy with some great ideas, but this spells only bad things. At best, he wins the nomination and has to square off against a guy who has made defeating socialism his number one priority in 2020. At worst, he fractures the base, the BernieBros split off and flock to Howard Schultz or whomever, and Trump gets re-elected.

I'm nervous about this.

Trust me, Sanders supporters are not going to vote for someone who is the very embodiment of everything they dislike.

Hasn't this been discredited already on about 3 or 4 different threads?

Oh wait . . . because he's running against the Anointed One, we must attack him at every opportunity and every criticism about Harris doesn't matter and is irrelevant, right?

Seems to be the mssage I'm reading.

I will support him if it somehow comes down to him and Gabbard or if he miracoulsly becomes the nominee.

A shame for Warren. And I would have enjoyed seeing a certain Group of BernieBros explain why they preferred Beto over her. Ah, well.

Speaking as someone who'd vote for Beto over Warren and may vote for him over Sanders (if Beto gets in I'm basically undecided) my only problem with Warren is her campaign skills and how she completely botched her response on the Native American ancestry thing (which was a very, very stupid f[inks]ing issue that should've deserved no real response to begin with.) Beto sure can't be accused if being a weak campaigner.

I hoped he would just not run this time and let someone younger take on the orange clown. Same with Biden.

I don't think Sanders will do this well in this primary, since he was to compete with a very different field of Dem candidates, who can make a more vital impression, especially in the debates. He's also too polarizing and may advance someone like Schultz in the GE if he were to be nominated and thus causing Trump to improve his chances. My prediction right now is that Sanders will be out by Super Tuesday, if not sooner.

O'Rourke follows the blueprint of successful Democratic nominees moreso than Warren does. Of course Sanders also has this problem and I'm not sure if I would still vote for him in 2016 if I could change my vote, but it's not like there were any great options. Also I currently prefer Gillibrand over both O'Rourke and Warren.

Have fun twisting this into a misogynistic statement though.

The only message you're reading is what you want to read. You keep saying "Anointed One" like that means anything (which is doesn't) but what you're actually doing is ignoring the very serious potential repercussions involved with Bernie running again.

Great.

Now all the Bernie Bros are going to stay home when he inevitably loses the primary again.  I think he'd be easy pickings for Trump in a general election.

That said, I would still vote for him in the general.

Sanders is the only credible candidate to reverse the oligarchy & build a new realignment. He is the only hope for a progressive agenda & will be a very strong GE candidate.

The only thing about this I like is that none of the other candidates will have any incentive to go easy on him the way Hillary generously did. It will be nice to see him get what’s been coming for the last four years.

That said, it means his core supporters will go ballistic, so here’s to another cycle where he egotistically destroys the Democratic Party! Cheesy
