My grandmother had gastrointestinal surgery yesterday, and is recovering well.

One of the worst things about getting older is seeing how quickly your parents and grandparents age. I feel like they've aged two decades in the last 5 years.

Hope your grandmother has a quick recovery

His approval is in Bush 2nd term land around 23%. He doesn't support Israel's offensive in Gaza and that only makes his numbers even worse as his staffers openly make pro-Hamas statements and become a national embarassment. After his 5 trillion stimulus in 2021, inflation is much worse and he gets Hoovered in the 2024 election.

Obvious junk is obvious.

There won't be a six point margin this year, and certainly not for Trump. He would be happy to win the popular vote at all.

While I do agree Trump doesn't win by 6, I'll just point out that this is the same mindset Atlas brought to the table in 2014. We all know how that went.

We've all been wrong over time. And I honestly would be more worried if this poll was out in late September or into October (assuming other polls were as they are, but even then this one is an outlier).

Sure, having two (or more) sides in a factual dispute means someone has to be wrong. I bring it up to caution that maybe we should be more circumspect than saying "obvious junk is obvious", because I heard that once before when the obvious junk actually turned out to be fairly accurate.

Way back in 2016, Trafalgar polls were deemed as rubbish and dismissed as bogus. They were even rated as C by Nate Silver, but turned out to be very accurate. Their methodology used is still a bit questionable to some, but we don’t know how they ended up being spot on in 2016.

yeah and how did they do in 2022
To be fair, Trafalgar still has a better track record than most major outlets, considering they only got one major election cycle massively wrong rather than two

I'd rather have someone who likes Trump instead of someone who likes genocide.

Is My Bloody Valentine the Shoe Gazes?  Like "Only Shallow" and "When You Sleep"?

If yes, 10/10.

Y'all can't handle it.

Yes

Okay, I should probably read things before responding (which I never do), and see that band has already been mentioned.

Along with Cocteau Twins.  Massive Attack--on the Kraut radio waves,--first introduced me to Elizatheth Frazier, which subsequently introduced me to the Cocteau Twins rabbit hole.

"When Mama Was Moth" is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Cocteau Twins is in my top 5 most listened artists on last.fm. Though i don't use last.fm as often anymore. But yeah absolutely my thing obviously - without saying. But i wouldn't really clasify them as exclusively shoegaze or stereotypical shoegaze.

Heaven or Las Vegas - the album - def a dream pop / shoegaze classic too

mbv, slowdive, cocteau twins all in top 12

seems reasonable. In my opinion, If there is one area in the country that’s going to be resistant to Trump swings it’s going to be the pacific northwest.

And if you don't know what that is or think it's an oxymoron (LOL), it sounds like this:

I mean Trump is sleazy too so why don't we send him to jail just for that?

The overarching point is right, but those are the wrong examples. Affirmative action statistically hurts Asians worse than white people and also Hispanics to a lesser extent. I fail to see how not using racial preferences makes you racist. Then DEI is BS corporate window dressing to get good PR that accomplishes nothing.

He's said worse before when he said the GOP is worse than segregationists and his explanation was "at least they believed in democracy"

"worse"?

I think the issue there is that he indirectly implies southern segregationists were "pro democracy"
