HP. I respected her and was initially glad she defeated Political Boss Crowley, but she let the celebrity get to her head. She became a sour winner despite Crowley's very gracious song-endorsement and showed her character as smug and disrespectful. And of course, being a socialist and anti-Israel doesn't really make me like her more.

No Cortez is not the fycking sore winner, Crowley is the sore loser. It is not smug and disrespectful when you primary opponent does not vacate the WFP endorsement.

I'll reserve full judgement until she's actually in office. [...]

^^

I think she's a FF for now but I still think it's too soon to really judge her. Probably should have handled the Crowley stuff differently, though.

Butttttttt, I do have high hopes for her.

He said he's fully supporting her, but taking yourself out of the WFP line is A LOT of work that I guess he just doesn't want to do because she's going to win by a landslide anyway. If you think that attacking him on Twitter for this without checking it with his team first despite having a 100% chance of victory is not smug, disrespectful and childish, well... you've let the factionalism of the Bernie vs Establishment narrative get to you.

I considered her an HP long before her recent feud with Crowley.

HP, sore winner, paranoid, anti-Israel. The alt-left is coming to town. Boy I'm looking forward to the hordes of deplorablified Democrats Smiley.

I fully agree with the verdict of this economist (retweeted by several prominent Obama advisors!!!):

HP in general, but

What does socialism mean to you people that you can unironically post such a thing?

They think the being a socialist means turning the U.S. into Cuba, Venezuela or the Soviet Union.

It's probably not entirely unironic except for any of us except beep boop. However, socialism is ultimately a rejection of individual liberty, which is unacceptable. One can believe in a safety net while rejecting socialism as an unacceptable ideology.

So AOC supports all those things? Are we doing guilt by association now?

That doesn't mean 1 tweet from the group means everyone in the organization has the same view.

I'll reserve total judgement until I see how she acts in the future when she gets elected but at the moment she seems like a good egg.

Nobody made her be a member of this group , she chose to be a member of DSA

ah, nice to know that I can blame you for everything bad that Donald Trump does.  After all; no one made you be a Republican, that was a choice that you made!

You also have the fact that declarative statements like "ABOLISH PROFIT" or whatever aren't firm policies but an idealised end state which depending on who you ask is either a very long way in the future or an impossible utopia, but a nice sounding idea.  Its probably comparable in a way to the old Labour Party Clause 4: something that makes a person sound a lot more radical that they actually are (and get them cred amongst the left) while not actually being your primary policy in the short term.  I'm a socialist and if I had my dream society I probably would favour the profit motive not being the fundamental basis of the economy however I don't and we have to make do with the society that we have today and that involves dealing with capitalism and improving the lives of ordinary working class people within a capitalist society.  Just because you support an imagined vision of the future doesn't mean that's all you'll legislate for or that if you get power you'll instantly implement that tomorrow: if you think that then its contrary to the experience of socialist and social democratic parties in Western Europe who all governed as comparative moderates.

Its the same with the "ABOLISH ICE" thing: it doesn't mean that America wouldn't enforce Customs law or immigration law in the future but instead an indication that you believe that immigration enforcement in America is so broken that there needs to be significant reforms to how it is managed and handled and that its better to start again with a whole new organisation with different leadership.  Indeed that's broadly the opinion when it comes to most criminal justice institutions: as they are they are clearly broken and there is significant distrust between the community and police (and vice versa) and its probably easier and better to significantly reform things to ensure that you have a different leadership with more positive policies designed to have a healthier relationship with the general public - other countries that have moved in this direction have seen a reduction in crime rates plus a healthier society since you don't have a significant number of people living in perpetual fear because they don't trust the police or other institutions.

It's hard to tell whether this sign is pro or anti-Obamacare.

I supported her against Crowley, but her petulance on Twitter is really rubbing me the wrong way. Who cares if a candidate that endorsed you and has no campaign remains on the ballot due to a technicality?
