Bernie.

If he doesn't run, Sherrod Brown or Steve Bullock.

Anderson Cooper: We have some distressing news from Washington today as Senator John McCain from Arizona suddenly collapsed on his way to the Capitol Building. He is currently in severe condition at George Washington University Hospital, doctors currently say that McCain suffered from a massive brain hemorrhage. Doctors are also unsure of his odds of survival.

30 minutes later

Wolf Blitzer: Tragedy has struck Washington today, we have just received word that Senator John McCain has died at George Washington University Hospital. The Senator had been battling a brain tumor for over 2 years now, but had managed to continue his tenure in the senate despite the difficulties caused by it. Our deepest condolences go out to his family as they deal with this tragic loss.

Later that night

Cooper: Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has announced that he has spoken to, and has chosen the late Senator's wife, Cindy McCain, to fill the seat her husband held before his death today. A special election will occur on election day 2020.

Does #NeverTrump have any ideology apart from being against Trump though?

The reason #NeverTrump didn't make much sense is that all it meant was one thing (not supporting Trump) with little ideological coherence among his detractors on the GOP side, varying from centrists to social conservatives to libertarians.  Their reasons for opposing Trump also varied as well.

Bannon's attempts to suppress the black vote are redundant since there are plenty of Republican-controlled state legislatures that are doing that just fine.  Roll Eyes

We should have some sort of method of automatically putting Hofoid's posts here.

This race is still a Tossup. However, Bredesen maintains a small edge as of now.

I don't get the Ted Strickland comparisons. The assumption is that Strickland got blown-out because he was a former governor? No, it was because his campaign was a joke. Bredesen can easily win if he doesn't make the same mistake.

Reddit does offer a wide perspective of subreddits that can allow one to discussed their own interest. What I mean is beyond the alt-right circles, the site's demographic is largely upper-middle class white guys in their teens-twenties. From a political perspective, most reddit users would fall under anti-establishment wings, whatever leaning right or left. You didn't see a sway of support for establishment Republicans in the last primary, nor did Hillary have the easiest with the people on both sides of the aisle.

I know I'm a bit late, but no one seem to have posted anything, so I might as well. Here's one of the more interesting ones I've made.

I think that whatever happens, the Asian vote will go in the same direction as college-educated whites.  Because it seems difficult for the GOP to win in the future without college-educated whites, I think Asians will eventually trend toward the Republicans as the party moderates.

America has a misogyny problem, meaning they don't like when women speak out against repellent discrimination. Hillary Clinton spent a career fighting for the disadvantage and got attacked by the media for being a evil feminist. Just think when one of the most outspoken feminist U.S senator runs and brings up the issues again, she's going to face the backlash from Fox News, MRA, and even male swing voters who aren't all that customed to female equality.

With the amazing record she's putting in the senate she'll also faced the harsh flip-flop attacks from the left on gun control and other conservative positions from her house voting record. What's going to be unfair is Gillibrand can be fair game for her own past voting yet Bernie Sanders won't face the same scrutiny for the NRA helping his campaigns, or he raged against immigrants on Lou Dobbs show.

Heard it down the grapevine from an Indiana Republican officiant that they don't want Braun to be the nominee. Which doesn't make sense to me, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think now I know why...

What counts as urban vs non-urban. You mentioned upstate New York districts focused on Albany, Rochester and Buffalo, but those are all mid-size cities, no?
I personally would consider those mini-metro seats.

The Buffalo area covers about 1.5 CD's, so I would not characterize that as mini myself. Rochester is about exactly equal to one CD. Albany also has about 1.5 CD's. To me mini means a metro area that takes in considerably less than one CD, say one half or less. That would be like Schenectady. YMMV.
You raise a good point here. I am defining it too widely.
for New York it could be:
Urban is every CD in NYC+Albany CD+Rochester CD+Buffalo CD
Suburban is every CD in Long Island+SPM's seat+Lowey's seat
Mini metro is the Syracuse CD (Onondaga County has less people than Monroe County and needs some of the Finger Lakes region to reach quota)
everything else is rural
