NFL players are allowed to protest by kneeling during the anthem. Pence is allowed to protest by leaving. I don't see the problem Smiley.

I don't have a problem with Pence protesting, but this was certainly a preplanned stunt.  He flew from Las Vegas to Indianapolis last night for a game with the 49ers, who have a history of players kneeling during the anthem.  Reporters were told to stay in their van because Pence might be departing the game early.  He's flying to California this afternoon.

How much did this stunt cost the taxpayers?  Not that this Administration cares about that sort of thing.

Gotta wonder how much it costs for security to secure a stadium for a VP, including his route to and from the stadium, only for him to leave 5 minutes in for a bit of grandstanding.

And the extra flight costs for the trip to Indy.

Indianapolis Star football columnist Gregg Doyel says that the Colts, who went out of their way to accommodate Pence, had no idea that he was planning this.  They thought Pence was there to help honor Peyton Manning, who was being inducted into the Colts Ring of Honor.

Good way to deflect from the first job losses in 7 years.
There;s no serious economist who thinks that wasn't because of Harvey and Irma.

There were no job losses after any of the hurricanes that occurred during Obama's administration. Trump was supposed to be this outstanding businessman that would create great prosperity, yet we see job losses not even a year into his term. Maybe there is some validity to the hurricane claim, but politically it's a poor excuse. When you build yourself up as so grand, there are no excuses for job losses.

Exactly zero major hurricanes hit the mainland US during the Obama years.  The last one before Harvey was Ike in 2008.  Come on.

Are you being serious? Attributing the job losses during one of the worst hurricane months of this century, which hit population centers in two of the largest states in the country, to anything other than hurricanes is r/the_donald or Breitbart levels of stupid. Like, I don't like Trump either but come on man. September is typically a month with job "losses" because college and high school kids are coming off summer vacations. Add to that the fact that Florida had gas stations that went over a week without getting gas and Houston was underwater for days and it's pretty obvious how there were job losses in September.

FTR, there were exactly zero major hurricanes to hit the mainland US during the Obama years. The last one before Harvey was Ike in 2008.

Neither of you helps your cause by sniping at each other.  How about arguing based on actual principles?

Let's say Pence just stopped to honor Payton Manning, which was what much of the day was about, but didn't attend the game and just went on to his next destination.  Would there be a huge flap about the cost?  I don't think so since prior to him walking out of the game, no articles were published about the OMGZ cost of honoring Payton.

When it came out that he made a cross-country trip solely for that purpose, I'd guess that there probably would have been something of a flap (*cough* party of fiscal responsibility *cough*), but likely not as big a flap as it is currently.

If Pence had been at all smart about this, he would have combined the trip with some official reason to visit Indiana.

ETA: it's also not just a matter of moving on to the next destination, which implies that it was on his way somewhere.  If he'd been going from DC to CA, for example, and made a stop in IN, it would have been less of a big deal.  But in this case, he flew cross country from Vegas to Indy, then back to the west coast.  Without this, he would have just had one much shorter flight from NV to CA.
