Mike Flynn may be a great soldier but he's also not a lawyer

His Lawyer on the other hand is a lawyer and this is what he had to say

Drip, drip, drip of what?

The FBI under Comey have been relying of Crowdstrike's dubious claims and investigating Christopher Steele's absurd 'dodgy dossier' now for months and in spite of lots on innuendo being made there's still absolutely no evidence, circumstantial or otherwise, that's been produced for this conspiracy theory.

This is all playing out very much like a modern day Titus Oates 'Popish Plot' (perhaps with Steele playing the part of Titus).

His lawyer confirmed it Pete god you are getting desperate
I know what his lawyer said, I just posted his lawyer's statement a few posts up and it matches exactly what I've been saying for some time about this. Here it is again in case you missed it.

You will notice that it doesn't mention the words 'immunity' or 'FBI' either. A House intelligence Committee spokesman has said they have no deal with Flynn about him testifying to them.

I think this is more of Flynn's way of covering his own ass rather than dropping some new evidence in the Russia investigation.
Exactly, and exactly what his lawyer's statement says.

Geez all the right wing hacks on here are going to have pie on their face once the evidence proves to be treasonous.
Since none of the 'evidence' that has been produced so far for this conspiracy theory has amounted to anything why would you expect this to be any different?

Who are you to believe! Flynn's own lawyer, or Mike "Gorilla Mind" Cernovich?

The periscope that the tweet linked to specifically made exactly the same point that his lawyer made in the letter. In an atmosphere where powerful people are carrying on a witch hunt and trying to pin a conspiracy theory on various people, including Mike Flynn, then Flynn would have to be nuts to agree to testify without having some kind of protection from the prospect of a politically motivated prosecution based on insubstantial evidence.

Hi. Lawyer here. That last sentence literally just means, "We're asking for an immunity deal." Whether congress is interested in taking him up on his offer is another matter entirely.
Well that's a fair point. But why might they not be interested in hearing his testimony?

Come to think of it why hasn't John Podesta been asked to testify, this is supposed to be partly about his e-mails.

What if this is his lawyer's goal? Undermine the investigation so Trump can stay unscathed and Flynn takes the fall.
I think Flynn and his lawyer's goal is clear. Flynn is not facing any criminal charges, as has been publicly acknowledged, but he's being subject to a viscous politically motivated smear campaign. He wants to publicly testify to clear his name (and by extension Trump's) but his lawyer has advised him to not say anything in this witch hunt atmosphere lest his words be twisted out of context in a politically motivated prosecution.

That's exactly what the lawyer's statement says, its what Cernovich said in the Periscope embedded in the tweet that Mike Flynn Jr retweeted

https://www.periscope.tv/w/1ZkKzELEeMand

and it's very close to what was said in the article ModerateVoter linked to. It looks like that is what is happening.

On behalf of my countrymen, I apologise to Atlas for EnglishPete. He is probably one of the people who took a pen into the polling booth on 23rd June to stop MI5 from rubbing out his vote for Leave.
As a fellow Brit you should know the story of Titus Oates and the 'Popish Plot'. This Russia/Trump conspiracy theory nonsense and the hysteria surrounding it seems like a similar event (although thankfully without people getting their heads chopped off).

Notice how these Mike Flynn bots have ZERO to very few RTs. no one reads these Tweets, they are here to pump hashtags only

Of course the establishment media have recently been pushing the story of pro-Trump accounts all being Russian bots. SJWs always project so if you want to know what they might be guilty of look at what they're accusing others of.

Mike Flynn should ask for immunity in that this is a witch hunt (excuse for big election loss), by media & Dems, of historic proportion!

Twitter has more bots in it than the entirety of Westworld... this isn't news.
Exactly. this liberal media line of 'Trump's social media supporters are all Russian bots' is not only wrong but incredibly hypocritical considering the number of pro-establishment bots there are out there.

EnglishPete should be hired by the White House Press office for real.

besides showing far more effort than those clowns there, hs is also much better at not shooting himself in the foot every 2 seconds.

I take that as sort of compliments, thanks.

You are being beyond childish.
A Democrat/Obama political hack prepares to 'testify' with 'a lot' of 'information' in this obviously cooked up witch hunt. After her blatantly partisan grandstanding in January any 'testimony' she makes needs to be taken not just with a pinch of salt but with a big wheelbarrow of salt. Anyone who expects to find her testimony credible is either extremely naive or a Democratic partisan hack.

Also for anyone asking why Flynn has asked for immunity before testifying here's a preview pic of Adam Schiff preparing to question Flynn without him having any such immunity

Hi. Lawyer here. That last sentence literally just means, "We're asking for an immunity deal." Whether congress is interested in taking him up on his offer is another matter entirely.

Thinking about this if they've already had discussions with the Congressional committees about this matter and said to them that he won't be answering their questions without an immunity promise then that would mean that he already knows that they'd turned down the idea. Which means that he won't be answering their questions for the above given reasons. He's not asking for an immunity deal, he's just saying he won't testify without one.

That means of course that if he's summoned he'd have to plead the fifth to all their questions. Now the optics of that won't look good on that so he has to preemptively get his explanation for doing so that supporters in the media and politics have the explanation ready for any 'spin battle' after the hearing.

Trump's lawyers have presumably worked out the same thing about the Flynn statement which would be why Trump tweeted out his support for Flynn's given reasons for doing so so that he's got that on record for his supporters and defenders ready for when they're asked about Flynn pleading the fifth.

Can always send the CIA or FBI to take him out after we get the incriminating evidence if it's as bad as we all think.
Take him out? Take him out for what?

The lack of mention of the FBI in the letter is a big indication that he hasn't requested immunity. If he was wanting 'a deal' he would presumably make such an offer to the FBI. If, on the other hand, what's happened is his lawyer has advised him to shut up and not answer any questions for the reasons given above then the reference to the Congressional committees makes sense.

He doesn't need a big public statement to explain if he's not answering any questions from the FBI. If, on the other hand he's concerned he might be called to testify before Congressional committees and is worried about looking stupid pleading the fifth to question after question then he might want a public statement to get his explanation for doing so in first.
