I still say Huckabee is horribly, horribly overrated as a candidate. Right now people know him as the avuncular seemingly generic conservative on Fox. There's no way he could hide his strong membership of "the rapture religious right" once he ran, and his advocacy of replacing a graduated income tax with a national sales tax would turn many many many voters off if he didn't jettison it.

My 2 cents anyway.....

Despite his support for Cap and Trade (a rather bipartisan view only a couple years ago), there is MUCH more that is hard line conservative about Huckabee than merely his abortion policy. First, on just about every other social issue imaginable he is a card carrying member of the "rapture right". Secondly, his views on "fair tax" garbage in 08 of replacing a progressive income tax with a national sales tax is anathema to most outside the Club for Greed "Growth" crowd.

Regarding his record as governor, there's more smoke than light in the accusations and defense of his taxing and spending record. Regardless, 2011's Mike Huckabee doesn't seem like a potential president who would make expanding S-CHIP funding a high priority like early Governor Huckabee did.
