I hereby appoint AustralianSwingVoter as Federalist Party Secretary!

I am still working on what to do about other positions. if you are interested let me know, also consider the caucuses as well, since they have various positions dealing with outreach/recruitment and so on depending on their individual bylaws.
Thank you very much, Mr President.

With the resolution of the convention city amendment, it is now time to consider bylaw amendments as one has already been put forward and others are sure to follow, including some of my own.

A bit late to the party on this bit, but since the convention hasn't closed yet, I want to propose this amendment to our bylaws:

Why should party members have to request endorsement? As a party member, should we not expect our parties support in an election?
What benefit is there to being a party member if you have to fight for the party's support?

We have an issue with inactivity in this game. This ensures that we are holding ourselves accountable by endorsing people who are willing to make an effort.

But NC Yankee has introduced a by-law change literally last week to deal with inactivity.

It shouldn't be difficult for a party member to explain to the party why they should be supported. If someone can't even be bothered to explain why out party members should support them, then how can we reasonably expect them to be active once getting the job? This also prevents people who clearly do not share the same basic views as outlined in our platform from joining the party for the purpose of getting elected with our votes.

As for the benefit of being in this party, it's still a group of likeminded individuals who share the same common goals as outlined in the platform. Nothing about that has changed.

People have every right to join whichever party they choose, whether they agree with the party or not. But the parties should also have the right to choose whether or not we actually support a candidate, regardless of party affiliation.

The bylaw amendments I introduced last week were merely part of a larger strategy to combat inactivity, not the whole affair.

For a little bit of background auto-endorsement of Federalists is a bylaw that we inherited in 2012 from the Whig Bylaws. I know because myself, Goldwater and I think Tmth were on the rules committee. I also know that we basically just copied the Whig bylaws verbatim.

It has at times made for easier flexibility in terms of recruiting candidates for elections and made it so that if the playing field allowed for it we could punch beyond our weight, run a candidate and thus allow them be endorsed "automatically" bumping down any non-Fed endorsements.

However, the problem with this is obvious. It means that candidates are jumping in last minute, receiving Federalist endorsement and then going into the election without campaigning.
Ironically, this strategy has often proved to be one of our least successful and many times this has backfired.

Some of our most successful campaigns for House I would point out, such as June 2017 and October 2017, featured a Federalist Slate settled in advance, with posted campaign threads and as soon as the endorsements were made official, we had a combined platform released.

On that note, another bylaw I Am going to suggest later is to require the posting of position statements and lists (I had an exhaustive one that I created in one of my house campaigns then cross linked in my subsequent threads, including both of my Presidential campaign threads.

One quick note, my one great fear with both the former and the latter is that we might end up with a purification ritual involving burnt offerings to the god Ronaldus Magnus, which a certain party in a certain parallel universe has spent the last decade doing only to end up with...

We are a right of center party, united in our belief that certain powers, responsibilities and rights rest best with the people, local and regional government. That individual responsibility and a free competitive market is the best way of distributing resources and lastly we are strongest and most appealing when we welcome all who want to join the game and welcome all the party who are on the center right. It is the utmost irony that one of Ronald Reagan's biggest allies in the Senate for parts of his agenda was an anti-War liberal from Oregon and another was a NE liberal from Delaware.

That being said, we have a grave problem in this game of inactive campaigns, high turnout elections that are basically binary popularity contests and then rather inactive careers in office. The Federalist Party has had problems with this in the past and if we are to be leaders in terms of the revival of the board, of campaigning, of debating and of governing, then we have to make the changes to eliminate the problem on our side first.

Okay I am going to give 24 hours for any additional bylaw amendments, then I think it is time to proceed on a vote on those that have been offered. I am still considering offering one more but I am struggling with how best to structure it.
