Internet access is a little dodgy at the moment, so I'm setting this up now - in case I can't later. I'm as morbidly pessimistic as normal for polling day, obviously.

That's because the BBC's guidelines insist it cannot be!

Reporting Scotland was great today because of that; they were running 'non-stories' such as the education dept in the Shetland Isles ending the funding for knitting classes at schools.

For the Yanks among us, CSPAN-3 will be simulcasting the BBC coverage commencing at 4:55 pm EST for several hours. Enjoy.

I'll have to watch it online.  I don't get C-SPAN 3 in my apartment (and they got rid of C-SPAN 2 recently too).

Any particular reason why?

Inks, you might consider "stickying" my post so folks can find the link easily, or put up the link yourself, or if you can't do it because it is not a board that you moderate, suggest it to the mods that do. Thanks.

Perhaps it is because of a desire not to have any political content while folks are voting based on a concern about late "hits" or something.

A couple helpful links:  http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/election2010/liveevent (the BBC also has live video on that website as well as a counter)

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/2432632/UK-General-Election-2010-political-map.html (The Telegraph has a map for their coverage)

I'm glad to see that we Americans aren't the only ones with news shows obsessed with gimmicks and production value that has nothing to do with content.

PS: Love you, BBC.

David Dimbleby thinks that the Lib Dem seat count looks dodgy.

LibDems seat total doesn't really matter if the Conservatives are short of a majority; they'll still need the LibDems to get to a majority whether they have 50 seats or 110.

Still humorous if they actually end up losing seats though.

LD flame out. The commentators were themselves skeptical. If this holds, I wonder what caused the LD rose to wilt.

Meh. The exit poll relies on a set number of seats, mostly solid Lab-Con marginals, and then applies UNS nationally. It's never been meant to measure the LDs well, and the slapped-on changes to try to measure them better are probably not very effective. In 2005, the exit poll also predicted LD seat losses.

Of course, I'm disappointed, but we'll see what the actual results are.

The Lib Dems were projected to win 53 seats in the 2005 BBC Exit Poll....they in fact won 62 seats.
