Believe I told Al a few days ago that I wouldn't be surprised in the LibDems underperformed a bit (because of movement back to Tories and Labour).  We'll see whether the exit polls are right or not on this one.

lol @ the way you and Al stroke each others egos... Get a room you two!

Well, obviously. Hacks won't say they expect a lower result.

If these exit polls are correct, then a Tory government is a certainty. The Liberal Democrats and Labour are only marginally above the Tories in combined seats, and far below a majority at 314. Any government would depend on the SNP and PC which like most regional parties oppose any change to PR. As a consequence the only option for electoral reform would be a deal with the Tories.

Of course - both the Tories and the Lib Dems do.

Does anyone know what percentage Labour need to get in Houghton and Sunderland South for the exit poll to be on target?

That particular election-night fallacy where the electorate is a person with emotions split as the various groups of voters are (the people want Labour out but didn't trust the Conservatives completely) is certainly in full force...

What does St. Silver know about British elections and that stuff?

He knows math, which is all you really need to know to project elections, whether they be in the UK, US or Uzbekistan.  I'm willing to wager Silver will be right and the British models wrong.

Swingometer is out. Exit poll suggests a 5.5% Lab to Con swing. Swing to Conservatives in England is 7%.
