It looked like it was down to Powell or Taylor, so all I can say is at least he's probably not going with Taylor. Unfortunate for Yellen though.

Apparently Powell generally supports Yellen's moves and is a good choice for continuity, while Taylor is a more conservative pick and is against action on stimulus. Also, Powell was appointed by Obama to the board, so there is some bipartisan support behind him.

So Powell is either a Moderate Republican or a Democrat and Taylor is more of a Conservative Republican Hawk?

Sad to see Yellin go...

Edit: Looks like his nominee wont be as atrocious as the rest of his recruits. I'm pleasantly surprised.

I'd rather Trump have kept Janet Yellen on another four years, but Jerome Powell is a perfectly acceptable alternative.  Knowing Trump, he can definitely do worse...

Janet Yellin has done a good job, and is probably more responsible for the stock market Trump likes to take credit for, than Trump himself.

Which makes me wonder how much, if anything, he had to do with the decision.
