If Cory Booker becomes president or vice president or a secretary in Warren's cabinet, who will become his successor in the U.S. Senate? Can he even run for both Senator and Vice President?
When would the special election take place?

Warren's more likely to pick Castro, Brown or Harris than Booker.

She won't want to offend the base.

Even if he doesn't win or get selected as VP or in the cabinet won't he have to give up his seat in 2020 anyway? since he'll not have time to file for reelection?

At any rate I think with the Democratic Base moving left Wisniewski would have a chance. Or, assuming Menendez isn't replaced by a Democrat in 2018 then one of the Norcross's seems like a good bet.

Murphy will appoint an interim senator, right?
But when when would the special election take place? At the earliest possible date (like in Massachusetts), or in November 2022?

This is exactly the kind of pick Murphy would make.

I like Gottheimer, but he should stay in the house. Republicans would have the edge in a special election for that seat.
