Quote from: Mia Brett

The infamous essays he wrote on female sexuality for The Vermont Freeman from 1969 to 1972 reveal some pretty exploitative views about women. And although these pieces were dismissed as satire or youthful indiscretions when he first ran in 2016, we must include Bernie in a conversation about problematic histories on women and gender issues in 2019.
In his 1972 essay “Man and Woman,” Sanders describes men fantasizing about abusing women and women fantasizing about being gang raped by three men. A typical man’s fantasy is described as “a woman on her knees, a woman tied up, a woman abused,” while a woman “fantasizes being raped by 3 men simultaneously” as she has “intercourse with her man.”
Not only is it disturbing for Sanders to assume these violent fantasies are typical, he also casts women as “slavish” breeding “pigness” in men.
In another essay, entitled “Cancer, Disease and Society,” Sanders suggests that women’s health and sexuality are linked, arguing that more orgasms and less sexual repression will protect young women from cancer when they are older. “The manner in which you bring up your daughter with regard to sexual attitudes may very well determine whether or not she will develop breast cancer, among other things,” he states.
This was a pet idea of Wilhelm Reich, the fringe revolutionary psychologist. Reich built an “orgone box” (a type of hyperbaric chamber meant to encourage orgasms) that led him to be jailed for fraud. Sanders repeats Reich’s ideas despite the fact they had been long discredited.
In the same essay, Sanders argues for the importance of teenage girls having sex. “How much guilt, nervousness have you imbued in your daughter with regard to sex? If she is 16, 3 years beyond puberty and the time which nature set forth for childbearing, and spent a night out with her boyfriend, what is your reaction?”
Sanders seems to imply that 16-year-old girls are ready for sex and their mothers are intrusive busybodies coming between young women and their boyfriends.
He doubles down in another essay “The Revolution is Life Versus Death,” claiming that change can only happen “when a girl pushes aside all that her mother has ‘taught’ her and accepts her boyfriend’s love.”
Instead of insisting on the need to protect children, he focuses on children as sexual beings whose mothers should be dispatched so their female offspring can have sex with their boyfriends. It should be noted that Sanders voted against the Amber Alert in 2003 — a system of notifying the public when a child goes missing. (Bernie claimed he voted against it because of an add-on limiting judicial power on sentencing).
Sanders also voted against a measure that would give rape victims the right to find out if their perpetrators have HIV and AIDS. (He cited privacy concerns).

Yet no reporting from the media that Bernie says is ought to get him and his gang of bros. I want the CNN debate hosts to ask him about this issue, so Americans can be open to just how much of an gratuitous and careless person he is on women rights. He has more in common with the Republican Party then he thinks.

I'm so glad that we have propaganda outlets like MSNBC to tell us that Bernie makes their skin crawl.

Medium is a propaganda outlet? No, that's Jacobin and The Intercept you're speaking of.

Could you imagine what would happen if that evil witch Hillary’s spokesperson used a work account to air grievances (about weather delays and flying standby) about having to wear espadrilles to a fancy wedding in Bahrain? Great work, comrade.

For people railing against the 1% this is such an upper echelon "can i speak to your manager, please?" thing to say...

She was flying standby and got kicked off for a paying customer too. She probably got whoever gave her the pass in trouble bc every major airline has the same rule: you’re responsible for the behavior of people to whom you give a pass.

Can anyone tell me why Bernie was writing essays about anything of these things to begin with? Regardless of whether you think it’s offensive or not, I can’t help but find it very bizarre that he was compelled to submit essays to a newspaper about... women’s sexual behavior.

Bernie Sanders heads to Canada with diabetes patients seeking cheaper insulin

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is heading to Canada on Sunday with Type 1 diabetes patients seeking cheaper insulin to highlight what he calls the "corruption" of pharmaceutical companies and the toll taken on Americans who can't afford the medicine. "People are dying," the 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" hosted from Detroit, Michigan. He said the cost of insulin in the US has "soared in recent years" and "there is strong evidence that there is price fixing, that these companies simultaneously raise the prices at outrageous levels far, far, far more than the cost of production."

After his CNN interview in Detroit, Sanders tweeted, "I just boarded the bus in Detroit with diabetics, on our way to Windsor, Canada, to buy affordable insulin. Americans are paying $300 for insulin. In Canada they can purchase it for $30. We are going to end pharma's greed."
The trip from Detroit is not the first time Sanders will cross into Canada with people in search of cheaper medicine. Two decades ago, Sanders went on a similar trip with women fighting breast cancer who left from Saint Albans, Vermont, in search of lower drug prices.

Two decades after he took women fighting breast cancer to Canada in search of cheaper medicines, Bernie takes patients to Canada to buy Insulin @ 10% of the price. 20 year anniversary of Bernie taking patients to Canada to buy cheaper medicine.

Sanders donors as % of State Population -

1. Vermont
2. Oregon
3. Washington DC
4. Washington State
5. New Hampshire
6. Maine
7. Massachusetts
8. Colorado
9. California
10.Rhode Island

11. New York
12. New Mexico
13. Connecticut
14. Hawaii
15. Montana
16. Illinois
17. Minnesota
18. Nevada
19. Iowa
20. New Jersey

Bottom 5 States - Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, South Carolina

These are Individual Donors (Not number of donations) as % of State Population -

Very clear that Sanders does not have enough support to get people to donate in Southern states.
Pretty clear that Sanders has strong support in North East (NH, Maine & VT are Top 5 states excluding DC).

Sanders also looks very strong in the West Coast (CA, WA & Oregon) as far as actively involved donors are concerned. I think if we can number of unique donors per state per candidate, then we can get who can out-perform polls & who has more much support than what polls predict.

Marcus H. Johnson just tweets this out. This shows why the Democratic base has no time for Bernard bs rhetoric. As hypocritical as a selfish politician could be.

We spent a week lambasting Harris for saying she listened to Tupac in college but Atlas goes radio silent when their cherished Bernie hypocritically violates labor laws. Sad.

People start to not pay attention when it's the same crowd as always bringing up these stories.

Yeah, any comparison between Sanders and Trump on this is ridiculous. Please don't go there, James Monroe. It's a losing battle.

Let's be real, if any other candidate did this, they'd be accused of pandering.

It is pandering, and pandering that is meant to be targeted at me but I honestly don't care because I've listened to Cardi like... twice? Ever? I honestly don't care

CNN says Bernie's campaign has been considering attacking Warren tonight, on the topic of electability.

Lots of potential for that to go both greatly and horribly for Bernie.

Rose twitter was dragging Kamala for getting a picture with Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, and Demi Lovato.

He's just shouting the same bs that will cripple the country. No one will start thinking about supporting this lunatic, they'll go over to Warren as the sane progressive choice.
