Plaid gain Llanelli; not even close, despite a decent Labour %. LibDem polled under 4%!

Lab hold Delyn and Newport West against strong Con challenges.

Con hold Monmouth. No surprise.

IWJ wins in Ynys Mon. Rogers couldn't crush the Labour and Tory votes as much as he needed.

Indeed, he only really crushed the Tory vote. The Labour vote's decline fits with Wales' overall trend.

And that's with a Cardiff based lawyer running for us! I'm surprised that he did as well as he did actually...

Turnout in the working class parts of that seat (Gower is socially polarised, and then some) was dire apparently.

Has anything been heard yet from Brecon and Radnorshire? I used to know someone who lived there.

He had a sweatshirt that said "Swansea" on it and said "cheers" a lot. He didn't like it when the other Brits called him taffy.

Labour gain Wrexham. I suspect that Griffiths will have the honour of the lowest winning percentage... 28.8%!

Wales South East Divisors (following 8 constituency declarations)

Con regional vote / 2 (Monmouth + 1)
Lab regional vote / 7 (Caerphilly, Islwyn, Merthyr Tydfil, Newport East, Newport West, Torfaen + 1)
Lib Dem regional vote / 1 (No constituencies + 1)
Plaid regional vote / 1 (No constituencies +1)
Green regional vote / 1
BNP regional vote / 1
Communist regional vote / 1
English Democrat regional vote / 1
Independent regional vote / 1
Socialist Labour regional vote / 1
United Kingdom Independence Party regional vote / 1
Welsh Christian Party regional party / 1

My guess: Lib Dem win the first seat, Plaid win the second seat, Con win the third seat, Lib Dem win the fourth seat

While still pathetic, the Conservatives have to feel good about Wales, they took one Cardiff seat, gained back SW, and are really very close to getting those NE areas, while it doesn't mean it will translate into MPs in a General election, it's a good start in what looked beyond hopeless not too long ago.

EDIT: yeah, I know they didn't get second place, but we'el get there.

EDIT 2: just picked up Clwyd West, very close in Vale of Clwyd, we'el get there, we'el get there.

Con 2, Lab 0, Lib Dem 1, PC 1

Labour hold Bridgend and Ogmore. Funny... in Bridgend, despite constant reports of Carwyn's electoral demise, there was barely a swing from 2003!

Anyways, only the Vale of Glamorgan to go now. And the list seats.

A map:

I decided to go concentrate on spotting the close races, as opposed to the more mixed thing I usually go for. In low turnout elections it probably makes more sense anyhow (though the usual sort of map will also be made at some point).

When the party is called the "Liberal Democrats", to American ears (or eyes in this case) then it has to be left wing. I keep forgetting that they aren't always that way.
