The best part of this is the hifly freakout.

Won't matter to Utah Senate Democrats anyway because they're all in liberal SLC districts.

Well, not all of them, but yeah, most are. While I'm glad for the ruling, this is going to be painful...

Also, LGBT Utahns are getting marriage licenses before Illinois's law takes effect next year. Suck it, Illinois.

I hate to ruin the celebration, but won't this ruling almost certainly be overturned?

Now that some folks in Utah have actually gotten married today following this ruling, it can't be.

What? Where do you get this stuff? Of course It doesn't mean that.

I think gay marriage supporters are a bit too sanguine about this law's prospects in the SCOTUS.

The judge that struck down the law literally used the same arguments the Supreme Court used last year. I don't think they'll contradict themselves.

This is the ruling that will help lose Utah Democrats UT-04. Glorious for Mia Love.

They were already going to lose it, and anyone who cares all that much is already aware that the Mathesons and any other serious Utah Dem UT-04 candidate doesn't support gay marriage.

Also, my sister can now get married to her girlfriend, so I couldn't care less about what you think.

I'm pretty sure Utah's conservatives are messing this up because they don't exactly have a working AG in office right now.

True. Swallow was corrupt, but he was at least competent.

I wouldn't argue that he was competent; he was so brazenly corrupt that it removes any possibility of competency. He knew the law, and how to make money, and that's it.

To add to SLValleyMan's update, the AG's office is now telling county clerks that if they deny marriage licenses to LGBT couples, they're breaking the law.

Yet the newly appointed AG Sean Reyes (who is in all other respects a reformist), is still looking to overturn the ruling. And yes, he is seeking re-election in 2014.
