Do they even have Chinese food in Oklahoma?

Bushie being an adult man in his 30s and still approaching vegetables with a five-year-old's attitude of "yucky gross" is one of my favorite update saga tropes.

In 9 days from now, I will be about to start my journey to the Republic of Kenya.  I will get the last of what I need today, such as a small fan and bug spray.  I will pack by the end of this week.

You should try to help the elephants in Kenya. See this.

The Wheat Council's product placement is getting ridiculous

What kind of food do you eat when you're in Kenya, Bushie? Do they have some Kenyan guy flip some hamburgers and fries to feed the Americans who can't eat local food or healthy food?

God bless Our Dear Friend but he's almost certainly the type that puts ketchup on his spaghetti. Ketchup already disgusts me. If I was ever in the presence of someone putting ketchup on their pasta, I'd literally vomit.

Hash, the diet consists of chicken, beans, lintels, rice, and fresh fruit like small bananas, kiwi, watermelon, etc.  I only found one hamburger place at the Nairobi airport on the way home.

Phil, I'm not that crazy!  Ketchup and spaghetti don't belong in the same meal!

Why do you find that so repulsive?

(putting it on pasta is the primary use of ketchup in my neck of the woods, so you better stay far away from Scandinavia)

Well, Phil, being the italian stallion around here, naturally finds it repulsive......but I agree with him and I suspect many here do as well......it's just gross.  A tomato based sauce is normal.....ketchup......disgusting.  IMO.

I love Chinese food, but there's this one Chinese place not far from my job that is a little too authentic for me. So I guess I can understand how Bushie feels.

Dukey and I are Greek, and Phil's Italian, so you might be onto something there.

The primary use? Wow. What a horrible part of the world.

Yes, they're called "filth."

I've never once heard of putting ketchup on pasta. That sounds disgusting. Fwiw my grandmother is from Germany and I've lived on both the west and east coasts but with very little interaction with the residents of the wasteland in between.

Only people I've heard put ketchup on pasta are Honey Boo Boo's family, so yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if it's common in Okie land.

Are you sure you can stand all that healthy food? It must be quite a shock to your body. Wink

If you actually moved to Kenya permanently you would probably loose weight quite easily.

Okay a quick search seemed to confirm its un-American to use ketchup on pasta. But I still wonder why, since its basically just a tomato sauce. Too sugary?

I know two American families that do it, both Midwestern WASPs + an exchange student I once knew with a 2. generation Russian New Yorker background, but they are probably just unrepresentative.

An American expats view of the Swedish love of ketchup, which is similar to ours.http://somethingswedish.wordpress.com/2012/01/16/when-in-rome/
