Allhave importance. Some may be considered positive, rather then negative. Others, some might be indifferent to.

What do you consider to be the most important?

My top three:
1. HIV/AIDS
2. Sanitation
3. The Environment

Trade, terrorism, and poverty.

I think the first is most important, because with free trade you can solve or at least lessen the degree of many other problems. Nations that trade with eachother aren't very likely to go to war, and by trading they generally increase eachother's standards of living.

Terrorism is a problem because it raises tensions and can lead to larger conflicts, among other things.

Poverty is a big problem in a good deal of the world, and it is one that causes a good deal of other problems that can lead to further problems themselves(ignorance is a good example of one of the problems poverty can cause that causes further problems), but we do need to face the fact that poverty isn't going to up and dissapear. Some degree of poverty is inherent in all large human societies. All we can really do is lessen it, and I think the best way to do that is to encourage economic growth in poor countries through trade.

It is and it can.

Take a look at the (admittedly not complete) elimination of Polio.

Bad sanitation not a global threat, Hugh.  I'm not worried that garbage is going to take over the world.

Yeah, and a hijacked plane's just waiting to be crashed into outback Mali.

There is a difference between random murder of groups of people and poor government services.

Anyway, the nations where sanitation is a problem have far worse issues to deal with.

Anyone who picks "sanitation" seriously needs to get their brains checked.

It may not be the most pressing issue, but it's more important than terrorism.

Interesting that no-one picked Nuclear Proliferation, given that we're living in an age where any tinpot dictatorship could, theoretically, develop nukes. But then I myself picked poverty (because of the knock-on effects it can have, ie. crime/drug use/etc on a local level, terrorism and civil wars on a wider-reaching scale), so there you go.

Poverty impacts the most people in the world, so I voted for that.

But none of these are a real concern to me, personally, and I tend to care minimally about people who live in third world countries.  Poverty isn't a problem for me, but for others.
