There has to be something that we're missing here. Maybe Cuomo's team sees one or more genuinely monumental weak spots in the data that have not yet become apparent to the rest of us.

I can't see any other reason why an incumbent who is ahead 2:1 on paper is behaving in such a maniacal way.

So Nixon is gonna get the WFP endorsement/nomination, does this mean she's planning on going for the GE if she loses to Cuomo?

From the odd things I've seen on Twitter from following her campaign, Nixon really is going for it. At first I thought it was just a primary for the sake of it, but her campaign seems impressive in terms of policy roll out, videos and other stuff.

I feel she could still lose by a big margin; just because of Coumo's clout in New York Politics, but there would be something hilarious about a two-term Governor, who keeps briefing about a 2020 run, to then lose to an actress running for the first time.

I guess another explanation could be that he literally is a maniac. Tongue

Cuomo's acting this way because he's lost enough battles to see another defeat coming.

Is Cuomo really that delusional to believe that he has a chance in 2020?
What's exactly his base? People who thought Joe Lieberman was insufficiently bi-partisan?

Let's go Nixon, to the Democratic primary and then the general election!

My inner politics junkie will take one Cuomo (D) vs. Nixon (WFP) vs. Molinaro (R) vs. DeFrancisco (C) vs. Sharpe (L) vs. Hawkins (G) vs. Giambra (I) vs. Holland (Reform) please.

Will Nixon continue on when she loses the Dem Primary? And if not I wonder who the WFP will endorse.

Cuomo already has the Independence line.

The WFP voted 91-8 in favor of endorsing Nixon. Imagine if Zephyr got that kind of support four years ago.

The WFP has also endorsed Jumaane Williams for Lt. Gov.

Did Nixon have any impact on who they picked for LG?  Like did she say for them to endorse that guy or what?

Probably not, they probably just endorsed Williams because he was running against Cuomo's running mate.

I don’t think so, but I bet Nixon would rather be sharing the ticket with Williams than Hochul.

To be fair I don't think Cuomo was actively giving the WFP as big a middle finger then as he is right now.

Yes, but Giambra is running an independent center-right campaign.

My inner politics junkie will one up that: that matchup, Cuomo leads throughout the campaign, but gets indicted in October, causing pure chaos and vote scattering

Here's another curveball: Jumaane Williams could still win the Democratic LG nomination. He's polling much better against Hochul than Nixon is against Cuomo. So Jumaane Williams could be the running mate of two different gubernatorial candidates. And, since Cuomo has the Independence line and will assuredly get the Women's Equality line, Cuomo could have two to three LG candidates, assuming the WEP re-nominates Hochul and who knows what the Independence Party will do.

New York state politics seems weird as f**k. Very entertaining.
