Again, the first votes are 2.5 years away, not 3.5.

At first I thought this was Rob Delaney, which was why I had a good chuckle at what I thought was a joke:

3 years early? Kind of stupid if you ask me. By the time the primaries roll around there will either a) be more notable candidates, b) he'll have dropped out or c) everyone will still wonder who he is.

Don't know what the hell he's thinking but I have a feeling his campaign will go the way of Evan Bayh 2008.

I was thinking more like Thad McCotter 2012.

In any case, serious question: Will any pollsters include him in any Democratic primary polls?  Either now, or at any point between now and 2020?  Also, what are the odds on him even qualifying for a kiddie table debate in 2019?

The best case scenario for him is that his odd choice to launch a 2020 presidential campaign in 2017 becomes enough of a punchline that he actually gets some media attention out of it.  Maybe one of the late night comedy shows will notice this story, and do a joke about him, simply because this is so weird.  I guess that might give him enough attention that PPP includes him in a poll?

I was thinking more rocky de la Fuente, or Mark everson

In 2015, Lincoln Chafee managed to raise just $15,000 in the third quarter (putting him well behind even Jim Gilmore in fundraising):

But at least that was ~6 months before primary ballots were being cast.  What about Delaney in the third quarter of 2017?  What's the over/under on the amount of money he'll raise for his presidential campaign this quarter?

Might reach Iowa. I don't expect much.

Fairly unknown Representative from a solid Blue state which garners little attention.

Yeah...

Do you guys think we could get Delaney to do an AMA on this forum?  I mean, if we can get Mark B. Graham and Darryl Perry on here, then surely the sky's the limit?

My hunch is that the US Election Atlas forum is currently one of the world leaders in Delaney 2020 media coverage.  Surely, no other online venue has printed more words about Delaney's candidacy today than we have.  So I think he owes us.

That's actually a real possibility. Obscure backbench U.S. Congressmen will do a lot for some attention.

What's an AMA, and where can I see one conducted in the past?

Did this gain any traction on television outlets? Him announcing so early makes him look desperately eager. Election fatigue is still going on. Especially when the President keeps talking about the one he won not even a year ago.

Hmm, well I don't think it's a terrible strategy. Perhaps he's banking on enough frustration with Trump that some people will throw money at literately anyone announcing they're running against him. I think he should have gone with a more aggressive roll out for this strategy to really be effective, but he still may raise a surprising amount as the first one out of the gate, merely as a sign of Democratic frustration.

Okay first off what is the big demographic that's going to help him win the early primary's, but the more important thing who the heck is this guy he is a C-list congressman at best from one of the safest democrat states in the country wouldn't he be better off against governor hogan?
