For what its worth, Sen. John McCain received 16 more votes in 2008 than President Bush did in 2004.  That is according to local sources.

Whats up with Comanche county, the second county in combination with Oklahoma city to give a big swing to Obama. That is one county I can't figure out. I mostly get the rest of the state.  Obama of course got violated in the derrier out in east and southeast OK. He got a swing in Tulsa, again proving Obama did well in cities everywhere.

Comanche County is nearly 20% black.

No counties for Obama. Fits pretty well with the general trend, but we all thought he'd perform at Gore levels.

If he had looked like Gore.

I suspect that it's more a case of having a name like Gore.

Oklahoma should have remained Indian Territory. Sad

Obama has an obviously "foreign" and obviously non-European name.

I agree, it wasn't so much Obama's race that hurt him in Appalachia and the upper South as it was his name and his cultural markers. These gave rise to silly rumors, like that he was a Muslim, that he wouldn't salute the flag, or that he wouldn't sing the national anthem because he thought it was "warlike." He might have had a chance in this region if his name were Barack Dunham.

The state is entirely useless. We need to cut it out and let it float in the ocean.

You'll have to cut Texas out too.
