Imagine the USA had a parliamentary system and Congress is obliged to elect Charlie Baker prime minister. To do so, he, Ted Cruz, Gary Johnson and Jill Stein have to build a government as every other combination is arithmetically or politically impossible and snap elections would lead to an increase of votes for the already strong Constitution Party.
What would a government program between the Union Republicans, the Confederate Republicans, the Libertarians and the Greens look like?
Keep in mind that the party members of each of the four parties have to approve the coalition agreement, plus Baker needs the votes of the congressmen.

Why the "Confederate Republicans"?

I wanted to discriminate between liberal Northern and conservative Southern Republicans to make the comparison more accurate.

So, according to some light reading, the Green Party of the United States is the "realo" wing of the American greens, with the fundis being the Greens/Green Party USA, now defunct. I assume in our parliamentary scenario, the Greens are a little less wacko and more realo.

The Libertarians and the Union Republicans end up being rather similar (economically conservative, socially moderate-liberal) so if both parties actually have a sizable amount seats, the two parties are somewhat different. The Liberals (Baker) are moderate economically and socially liberal while the Free Democrats (Johnson) are economically conservative but socially moderate.

Cruz's People's Party (Confederate Republicans sounds really really awful) are economically and socially conservative, while the Greens are center-left economically and socially liberal.

Baker's Liberals, Cruz's People's Party, Johnson's Free Democrats, and Stein's Greens form an Ethiopia coalition (red-blue-yellow-green), which ends up being moderate on both social and economic poles -> basically a "status quo" coalition. One thing is that it ends up being rather dovish on foreign affairs.

I give it six months before it collapses.

Okay, then I'm gonna stick with Northern and Southern Republicans. Smiley

Charlie Baker can also form a minority government and/or get a confidence & supply agreement with Cruz.
