Republicans: Nelson Rockefeller (NY)/John S. Cooper (KY) - 293
Democrats: Lyndon B. Johnson (TX)/Hubert H. Humphrey (MN) - 192
States' Rights: Ross Barnet (MS)/Robert Sikes (FL) - 53

This is how I would project the election to be. Sure, the holdover Kennedy effect might make it less of a landslide for Rockefeller, but I still think that Rockefeller would've won. If I was alive back in '64 and this was the election, I would've voted for Rockefeller even as a Democrat. I've always liked Rockefeller a lot more than I ever did Johnson.

Dixiecrats take a few Deep South states, Johnson wins everything else, Rocky is completely shut out of the electoral college (every GOPher polled like Goldwater, the biggest reason for the landslide was the Kennedy assassination).

Yeah, LBJ had sky-high approval ratings and unemployment to the tune of less than five percent on election day.

Johnson was still popular, and would beat even a strong opponent like Rockefeller. Conservatives mostly vote for Rocky, but a few stray to Barnett.
