Suit. Carter used race-baiting to win the Governorship, governed as the conservative that he was (a trend that unfortunately continued into his presidency) and generally he becoming Governor was a bad thing because it pretty much led to his becoming President in '76. Anybody but Carter.

And with his becoming President in '76, he led to the rise of Reagan and his taking credit for the '80s recovery.

The only people who benefited from the Carter-Reagan 'recovery' were members of the American overclass. The middle class and the working class have never recovered from Carter appointing Volcker to the Fed.

Carter.

Suit's a carpetbagger.  I'll have the South's born-and-bred over a Yankee any day.

I fail to see this logic. His parents were both born in the South, and by 1970 he had lived in Georgia for 16 years and was well-known and respected among Georgians. I'd hardly call him a carpetbagger.

Anyway, I voted for Carter in a close decision.

Saying that a 16 year resident is a 'carpetbagger' is heading deep into Royston Vasey territory, frankly.

I've always liked Carter, but Snowstalker has made me even more aware of the similarities me and him have and just how awesome he is.
