I mean, if Perry's decrease has started, who could take advantage of this trend in order to be the new conservative flag-bearer, but not to become the nominee, just to try to be picked by Romney for the VP slot ?

If the conservatives of all sorts and the tea-partiers have "exhausted" Palin (in a way), Cain, Trump, Bachmann, maybe Perry now, can't they try another one before the end ?

Can't a Christie try something, during a transition period, just to be strong, "unavoidable" after Romney's victory and put on the ticket with Romney ?
Having an acting governor is a good thing; someone from the Mid Atlantic too.

Or even a Ryan ?
One with "solutions" (whatever you think of these solutions) and one from the MidWest.
Granted, in his case, no great name-recognition...

Or someone else ?
(of course, Rubio doesn't need to be a primary candidate to be possibly picked)

Sure, it's late, but, after all, we still wait for Palin's decision Tongue

Well, Romney seems to claim that he is a truer conservative than Perry, so maybe he will be able to become the new flag-bearer.  Then 'Moderate-Romney' could pick 'Conservative-Romney' for the VP slot.       Tongue

To be simpler, my question was: will there be another "bubble" in this GOP process, but a utilitarian bubble for someone who would want to negotiate with Romney ?

After all, that was also T-Paw aim (even if he may have thought he could be the winner).

Rubio is too young, Jindal has already deleted 2012, Cantor has too bad an image.

Ryan is probably too less known, though he could have 2 big months, was he supported by some conservative organizations and bigwigs.
After all, even Bachmann was able to last for more than one month... Tongue

If Christie is a candidate now, he could blossom quickly at the expense of Perry.
And he could be a far more realistic VP nominee for Romney.

What's with the assumption that whoever places in the primaries is likely to get the VP spot? It's happened twice since 1980. Do you think that the dynamics of this campaign will be especially favorable to this arrangement?

You're saying Christie would be more interested in being VP than P?  Or that, even with the collapse of Perry's campaign, Christie wouldn't be able to beat the guy whose inadequacy in the eyes of the party is the very reason we keep seeing these bubbles?  Is Christie even much less likely to be approached for VP if he stays on the sidelines?  As I've predicted before, I bet he will declined to be vetted for VP.

And though Perry sinking in polls won't be shocking if it happens, so far the only place he's sunk is intrade which doesn't mean anything.

Christie looks more likely to me to put a hole in Romney, then be Perry's running mate.
