As someone who has been at an RNC and knowing the type of supporter it attracts, my first reaction to the story is not that the action was about race, but about the mainstream media. CNN has had a bad reputation with the base since the Clinton years and conservative talk radio spends as much time bashing the MSM as is does Obama.

You might think so... but the "This is how we feed animals" remark clearly points to the opposite.

He is Herbert Hoover without the moral compass. You in fact describe Herbert Hoover well -- an alleged moderate who couldn't decide between the liberal and reactionary wings of his party once the economy went sour.

People have gone from Left to Right... and from Right to Left. He has sold out his moderate past to curry favor with the Hard Right and especially its financial contributions.  He has shown himself consummately ruthless in his business dealings.   

Elect Romney and you get the GOP base -- the Tea Party cultists, the Religious Right, and Corporate America. You get warmongering as foreign policy. You get the strident denial of reproductive rights.

An America like Fascist Italy but without the antiquities and opera, but plenty of castor oil and truncheons? Such is the GOP platform.

What do you mean by "moral compass". Sounds like a code-word that basically says "NOT AS LEFTIST AS ME MUST BE EVIL".

And really, is this what the modern left has descended to? Not questioning someones competence or capability, but "YOU'RE A FASCIST". How do you even rebut inane name-calling? Besides just letting it stand and rot.

Without trying to sound like a Demhack, Republicans have been using blacks as tokens for ages. Watch Reagan's speeches, you'd always see a token black person standing near Reagan, and then you won't see him for the rest of the speech. Disgusting.

The way this is being reported is odd. What could have led up to this?  Sure there are racists, but that can't be the whole story. This sort of rudeness more often comes as a response to a particular situation rather than just an urge out of the blue.  And where did they get the nuts?

I could be mistaken, but what - short of the black camerawoman yelling, "Hit me, honkies!" to the individuals in question - would even provoke such a response such like this? Perhaps the response was not overtly racist; we were not there to know for sure. However, I don't see how this could at all be justified as "OK" even in a non-racist context.

That context is what I'm wondering about.  There's no evidence this camerawoman did anything wrong. But something must have led up to this in some sense, that they were responding to something, real or imagined.   
That throwing things at people and calling them "animals" is unjustified in any situation goes without saying, I would hope.

There are assholes in every political movement. Just because there are so many people. After all, look at the assholes who threw oreos at Michael Steele.
