Setting: West Des Moines, IA.

People: Howard Dean and his campaign manager, Joe Trippi.

These two men sit on an old campaign bus and debate the speech to give after the results come in.

"I like this," Trippi says, and shows him a printout.

"Not only are we going to New Hampshire, Tom Harkin, we're going to South Carolina and Oklahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico, and we're going to California and Texas and New York ... And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan, and then we're going to Washington, D.C., to take back the White House! Yeah!!!"

"Absolutely not," says Dean. "Why would I ever mention Texas or DC? That would alienate the moderate base."

"I like this," says Dean. "Listen."

"I know these new results may be disappointing, but don't give up hope. Because I know that, in this great land we call America, there is a majority. There is a majority that is tired of being pushed into the shadows, that is tired of being silenced, that wants their voices heard. Well, America, I can tell you right now, I'm listening. And by the Grace of God, we'll pull through and make sure that your voices are heard!"

"It's great," says Trippi.

Dean delivers the speech to great applause.

Setting: Atlanta, Georgia, the headquarters of CNN's Live Today.

People: Rick Sanchez, Charles Krauthammer, E.J. Dionne.

RS: So, gentlemen, how do you think Dean did?
CK: It was a great speech, but it lacked substance.
ED: Absolutely magnificent.
RS: How do you think it will affect his campaign?
CK: No doubt he'll pick up a few states.
ED: He'll win the whole thing.
CK: No, Kerry is strong.
ED: No, he'll win the whole thing.
RS: This is live today and we'll be back with Super Tuesday results tomorrow.

Setting: Live Today, Mini Tuesday

Key People: Wolf Blitzer

Wolf: We'll be keeping you updated for the full primary day.

We can confirm that Howard Dean has won the Missouri primary. John Kerry comes in second.

We can now confirm that John Edwards has won South Carolina. He beats Dean, then Kerry.

"Yeah, I believe that this primary will have an important.."

"I'm gonna have to cut you short, Joe, because we can now call Arizona for Wes Clark. That's right, Clark. He narrowly edges out Howard Dean.

And we can call Oklahoma for Clark, as well, and Dean finishes second also.

We are now receiving word that John Kerry has decided to suspend his campaign.

Says John, "It is my regret to announce my suspension of the campaign due to my being diagnosed with a malignant tumor. I endorse Howard Dean for the Democratic Party nomination. Thanks to the campaign for all their hard work, and the people who helped me and supported me."

Most unfortunate, and we extend our condolences.

We can now declare Delaware for Howard Dean, with Joe Lieberman coming in second, while Dean also carries New Mexico, with Clark coming in second.

Good night, and stay tuned.

Dean was done the second he came in a distant 3rd in Iowa after widely being thought likely to win it.  The speech only served to make him a laughing stock.

This should dramatically change the course of Hurricane Dean.

Good evening. We can now declare caucus victory in New Mexico and North Dakota, for Wesley Clark and Howard Dean, respectively.

This race is starting to shape up nicely.

We're now ready to begin our 3-week long pre-Super Tuesday election coverage.

We can declare Michigan for Howard Dean.

Washington has voted for John Edwards.

In case you're counting, this means that Howard Dean is in the lead, with Wesley Clark coming in second, and John Edwards is in third. John Kerry pledged his delegates to Dean. Al Sharpton has 22 delegates, all from the District of Columbia.

Feb. 8:

Howard Dean has won Maine, defeating John Edwards.

Feb. 10:

Wesley Clark has won Tenessee.
John Edwards has won Virginia.

Feb 14:

Howard Dean has won DC, while Clark wins Nevada.

Feb. 17:

Clark has won Wisconsin.

Feb. 24:

Today's primaries have been split, with Clark, Dean, and Edwards winning Utah, Hawaii, and Idaho respectively.

We'll be back with Super Tuesday coverage.
