I also like how Westman is a Progressive Rock fan, but he can't get off insulting Led Zeppelin like that. It's just not right. I mean, next thing he'll be insluting the Doors, Blue Oyster Cult, Jefferson Airplane, and God knows what else.

Also, I have a YES album in my signature.

Where does Westman himself insult Led Zeppelin?
He does insult Rolling Stone magazine for "crappy writing", but I don't see any Led bashing.  Carl, Westman's number 2 guy, however does get in an argument with the camera guy about who is better Led Zeppelin or Yes.
Scott Westman himself, however, I don't think I've written a post where he insults Led Zeppelin (at least in this thread).  If anything he is a 70's rock addict who probably has a hidden statue of Jimi Paige in his closet that he sacrifices baby goats to.

Carl, however, is pretty vocal about the superiority of Yes to almost any other band on the planet.

Okay, I got Carl and Westman mixed up. I thought that Westman was the one insulting Led Zeppelin.

Still waiting for a stright answer on the Han question.

For only like 20 more minutes dude.
I have to meet some people somewhere at 8:30 (not making this up)

Still. "Thanks". If you have any memory of earlier today, you should know. Yeah. I'm in trouble.

A) My sarcastic 'thank you',
B) Using something I said in a post (taking advantage of friend's death)
C) Update,
D) All of the above?

I'm going to have to re-read this timeline in the future just to learn Westman's pick-up lines. Wink

So Gerald Ford sticks in the House? Also, I was dissappointed that Kemp agreed to be on D'Israeli's ticket, though I still like him being in the Congressional leadership.

Well, I'm glad Ford finally accomplished his goal. I'd expect that the Constitution Party would be anti-Free Trade (something I don't fully trust), and also somewhat Populist on things like Wall Street.

After that last discussion, MacMahon is my political hero (for the next couple of seconds).

I kind of figured.  Wait till you hear about his views on the death penalty and gay rights (I'll give you a hint it's definitely not conservative).  If Tobin MacMahon existed in real life he would probably be a Casey Democrat (ie pro-life and pro-gun but liberal on most other issues).

Well I'd rather have Bob Casey than, say, Walter Mondale or George McGovern.

Waiting for the 1984 election. Grin I wonder what'll happen then, and if Westman will get re-elected in 1982. It'd be cool to see him take Paul Tsongas/Jerry Brown's place in the 1992 election, or even win the nomination.

Not entirely.

I am pro-life and pro gun rights (granted I consider those libertarian positions but they are also generally considered social conservative positions) but I found a lot of social conservative rhetoric on some issues (like gay rights, flag burning, death penalty off the top of my head) to be disagreeable.

Okay.
From my point of view it seemed that on this forum Libertarians tend to dump on social conservatives a lot (ever read the "Taking Murica Back!" thread?).

Billion Dollar Babies? The Alice Cooper song? Also, is John Shun a coy off BRTD? And why are the Classic Liberals running against their own former VP nominee?

Yes, the Alice Cooper song.
No, John Shun is a copy of my former self circa late 2009 (when I was in an anti-moralfag rage).

Classic Liberals are trying to get their own party name out there so they run against Westman.  Wait a minute, scratch that.  I just got an idea.

well, the Classic Liberal option was taken down...

Governor LaMott with her amazing power of family values and football motherhood traveled to Montana and kicked Scott Westman in his balls, so he died from pure shock, crapping into his emo pants. Then, she smashed Mendelik D'Israeli head against the wall, so he died as well, and all that was according to the Bible. And so, Susie K. Helmuth won in landslide, saving Montana from falling into a Great Satan trap. Praise the Jesus and eat more vegetables, you little jerks.

But then an Antichrist Ray Mabus arrived and with a help of his sidekick, Socialist Thad O'Connor from Maine, killed all good people in a cowardish way, so all sucked after all.

...um, actually I meant, I like this election a lot Tongue

Congressman Jack Daniels, however, comes and is able to ressurect Montana with his Jesus-hippie message of "peace and stuff". Daniels already looks like Jesus with his long hair and beard, and he too being called a glutton and a drunkard.

Dude! You can't beat Antichrist.

Jack Daniels is worshipped by many of his fans as God! He also looks like Jesus! That's two counts against Antichrist! Third is that Daniels can play guitar!

Today I happened upon (searched for) the old Americana thread. It seems like Westman is a Progressive Republican or something like that, where they believe economic individualism, but also in the government helping that. Take for example where Westman says that he's for the individual, not the corporation when telling Dent that he opposes privatizing roads. According to True Federalist, that was the main difference between Progressive and Conservative Republicans back in the day (I may be misinterpreting).

Cathcon, be carefull in using an orginal thread (where I deleted most of my post, after game died for the first time) as a key to both new edition and Mecha's thread. There are a lot of corrections here.

Exactomundo.
There is quite a bit of difference between Libertarian Hero Westman from Atlasia and "Liberal" Democrat Westman in this timeline.  Granted both have similar characteristics (go through women left and right, support low taxation and a free market solution to alternative energy, oppose gun control, support gay marriage, have super affectionate relationship with daughter, etc.) but in overall direction it is different.  Most of this has to due with the freedom I have in writing this timeline compared to the structure of Atlasia where when I lost the Presidential Election I had to stay out of office for like two years.

I don't really think of it as a guide. I just find it interesting to see how it started out. I had been hoping to find something like 1980 electioj coverage, but, at least in the first few pages, there were no maps or anything.

Hm, how to explain...

There was Winston who signed in as first, made himself President and then wrote few post that he won, he was reelected in landslide, blah, blah, he did everything he wanted to, blah, blah...

Then why did y'all agree to play along?

While on the subject of Americana, I have two questions that I meant to ask earlier today:

What did Winfield specifically do? I know Benson Rockefeller is his god (notice the lower case "g"), but how did that play out in Americana>

and 2: How come all the Libertarians were atheist? I find it pretty hilarious how (paraphrasing) "The Libertarians were so impressed at their own success that a number of them began to come out as atheist and that resulted in 1986 Congressional losses". I just imagine a hundred people standing up on the House floor declaring their atheism. It's pretty funny. The only exception is of course Beauregard D'Israeli.

I had some trouble understanding the Conservative's position on abortion. To me it sounded like "The Supreme Court is trying to define life at conception and I'm against that". However, apparently he's pro-life and calls for a Right to Life amendment. It's probably just bad wording but it was confusing.
