Chris Cillizza looks incredibly stupid right now... which, in all fairness, isn't too difficult for him.

You're right. We continue to get our hopes up. There is not a shred of morality in the entire Republican Party.

I mean Trump's approval ratings and head to heads have improved over the past two months despite all these "bombshells". Normal people don't care about this and much of the left is having a hard time coping with it

Much like their friends in Russia, the Banana Republicans are a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.

More seemingly damning information, yet the media seems over this story and no matter what happens the GOP will stick together. If next week it comes out that Trump is actually a longtime russian spy paid by the Kremlin and there are leaked phone calls between Trump and Putin where they conspire to pin the 2016 election interference on Ukraine, we might succeed in getting Susan Collins "concerned", but that's about it. The 2020 GOP is a moral wasteland.

You're not wrong.  The average American really doesn't care about these things that whip our forums into a frenzy.

That's not because these items are insignificant or that it means the public is on Trump's side.  It's just indicative of the general political apathy that's pretty rampant in our nation.

"All of those Washington fat-cats are the same."

"Is that impeachment thing still happening? I thought he was impeached already."

"Who cares? Trump is going to win in 2020 anyway no matter what he does."

"Oh, I really don't follow politics."

"I heard about that, but I don't really have an opinion."

"I'm an independent" -- but has always voted Republican since 1968.

"Name one of my state's Senators? Uhh....[Governor that lost re-election in 2004]? Is he/she still in the Senate?"

I'm sure we all know people that fall into one of these categories.

Pandaguineapig is right. Voters don't care about Impeachment especially if the Election is still 10 Months way.

Voters care about the Economy, having a good paying Job, etc.

They only way Democrats will beat Trump is if the Economy is getting sluggish and there are no signs of it.

Again more proof how much of bad faith actors republicans have become is the fact we are know entering the “no cares about this” stage. Not once throughout this scandal has Atlas Blue (with a few exceptions) or republicans in general actually engage on the substance of this case. It has been one bad faith argument after another. From trying to out the whistleblower, to trying to make this about Hunter, to making ridiculous arguments like “no one actually heard Trump say quid pro quo”, pushing long debunked arguments like Joe Biden fired the prosecutor to protect his son, and trying to act like this straight forward case is some complex mess (ie Jim Jordan) shows that the republicans have by an large become hostile actors in our political process who care about nothing but power. Or in terms they love to use conservatives hate America

Pelosi isn't winning, McConnell is.

You have it diametrically opposite of political reality. Republicans are potentially in a no-win situation. In chess the term is Zugzwang -- one is not in danger of something catastrophic so long as one does not move, but one has legal moves and all of them will result in loses of pieces or in checkmate.

Senate Republicans can defend the President by dismissing the indictment through a legal chicane that will look horrible in November, can whitewash the President and look bad in November, or can let impeachment take its course and have Mike Pence as an unelectable nominee in November.

Quote
Pelosi will soon be accused by Elizabeth Warren, Amy Klobuchar and Bernie Sanders of intervening into the Democratic Primary Process by playing Games with the Impeachment Articles and helping Joe Biden to win Iowa and therefore becoming the the facto Democratic Nominee.

Pelosi has helped anyone who will win the Democratic nomination for President. But this said, Donald Trump blew it all badly.

Quote
Do you really think it's a coincidence that she is sending these Articles over to the Senate less than three weeks before the Iowa Caucuses? I don't think so. She wants Uncle Joe's Democratic Rivals to be in Washington while Uncle Joe can park himself in IA for the next 3 weeks.

A President compromising defense and foreign policy for a specious advantage in the upcoming campaign does not deserve to remain President.
