Let's say that in 2016, Hillary Clinton is indicted on corruption charges and has to drop out of the race. Former Virginia Senator Jim Webb wins the Iowa Caucus and South Carolina Primary before sweeping the South on Super Tuesday and eventually winning the Democratic nomination. He chooses Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia as his running mate.
Meanwhile, after Ohio Governor John Kasich declines to run and Jeb Bush, Scott Walker and Marco Rubio all implode due to poor debate performances, former New York Governor George Pataki emerges as the favorite of moderate Republicans, and beats out conservative Ted Cruz and libertarian Rand Paul for the Republican nomination. He chooses Senator Susan Collins of Maine as his running mate.
In this scenario, who wins the general election? Please discuss with maps!
