The map looks favorable for President Obama to win re-election, but he probably will not get out of the 270s and certainly not above 280 EV's.  With that tiny of a win, he will have no political capital to spend and thus probably cannot push his agenda as full as he wants.  With 2014 looking like a good Republican year (as the 2008 Senators are coming up for re-election) when does the President become a lame duck?

He should have a Democratic Senate that is comparable to what he has now, maybe 52-48 instead of 53-47, and the Democrats should gain about 10 seats in the House, so he will have a somewhat favorable Congress, but no political capital.

I'm going to say, as bad as it is, he becomes a lame duck pretty early.  I will vote Option 1.

Part of me feels like he's been a lame duck since Mid 2010. Ala Truman, in some way.

6 November 2012.  It's not likely Obama will pass 51% of the PV, quite possible he gets elected with a plurality, and even possible for Obama to win the EV and lose the PV.

"Certainly" not above 280 EVs? I don't think you get how this works.

He will not become a lame duck. He will try to implement his agenda through executive orders effectively becoming a term limited dictator.

That'd be kind of nice, Ljube. Unfortunately Obama doesn't have the balls to do that.

No, he has the balls. He just wanted to be reelected. That was his restraint.

I wouldn't cross my fingers for anything like that. You know, a Republican may be elected in 2016 who will use the same instrument to undo all Obama did and maybe more.
