Actually they write it down six times.
One copy is sent directly to the President of the Senate.
Two copies are sent to the secretary of state of that State, who keeps one copy for his records and keeps the other if the President of the Senate should inquire because the one he should have gotten got misplaced.
Two copies are sent to the Archivist of the United States, who keeps one copy for the official records and keeps the other if the President of the Senate should inquire because the one he should have gotten got misplaced.
One copy is sent to the judge of the United States District Court with jurisdiction over the place where the electors met.
