I understand many of my colleagues concerns with the bill as it stands. I will be introducing an amendment soon to address most of the critiques listed here.

This amendment makes some needed changes to the original law. Under the original act, fathers were only guaranteed 2 weeks of paid parental leave; that has been increased to parity with mother's under this act. In addition, small businesses will have to shoulder less of the cost of parental leave.

Workers are also guaranteed medical leave and paid vacation under this Act, too. I have several more additions in the works. Feel free to make comments and suggestions on this amended bill.
