Will he endorse medical Marijuana and doctor assisted suicide in his second term? I realize he can't do it now but these are issues just like gay marriage that most know Obama almost certainly doesn't oppose but can't afford to endorse them because of politics. His support could go a long way towards acceptance for these issues though that will help a lot of people in the long run.

No in the case of assisted suicide, and HELL NO in regards to the marijuana issue. He has been tough enough on medical marijuana already.

Yes. The Obama administration has actually been tougher on medicinal marijuana than the Bush administration.

No way on assisted suicide.

As for medical marijuana, if he doesn't do it in October he won't do it while he's in office.

If the polls went that way, I could totally see him going the federalism route on medical marijuana. Not sure how how crazy hardcore pharmaceuticals are ok for oncology and AIDS patients while pot is not. I don't care much for smoking, but I had a frappaccino type "edible" while I was in California. It was great! :-) And before anybody says that my non medical indulgence is why we can't have medeical weed, I've taken pills recreationally plenty of times too.

Didn't Obama indicate he supported medical marijuana during the 2008 primaries?

No way on doctor assisted suicide, sadly.

Medical marijuana will probably have to wait until the next Democratic President to be endorsed (assuming that President is white).

More importantly is what Obama's administration would do in the event that one of the ballot questions on marijuana passes.

no, he's not so anti-pot and pro-Drug War because the opposite positions are untenable with the general population.  he could declare his support for legalizing marijuana today and still be re-elected.  there are other factors at work here: the prison lobby incl. correctional officers unions and big pharma.

Things would have to change quite dramatically for that happen (and not in a good way, at least initially). Crisis = Opportunity as so many business press hacks know and regurgitate all too well.

Looks like seven states could legalize medical marijuana before the year's over. Judging by the states on the list, they look pretty authoritarian. The outcome doesn't look good. Maybe New York, but not definitely.
