Title: % of population dependent on welfare increases or decreases with pop. density?
Post by: Jacobtm on August 17, 2009, 12:27:08 AM
Is there any county-level data around that would show if there is any trend between the % of people surviving on welfare and an area's population density. My initial guess would be that very rural areas are highly dependent on gov't handouts, while suburbs the least and cities in the middle.

However, I just don't know...

The Census reports disability status.  I've never dug deep enough to see if there's any other governmental aid information (I'll check) but I don't think so offhand.

Again all these starving people in America that opebo knows about but nobody else does.

Now comes the spiel about how "surviving" doesn't equal "living" or some other nonsense.

No, I'm not necessarily saying they're dead, I'm just saying that welfare doesn't keep them alive.
