Title: Kerry repeats Draft canard
Post by: CARLHAYDEN on October 16, 2004, 06:33:08 PM
In a speech in Milwaukee, Kerry repeated the canard that Bush plans on reinstating the Draft.

Bush, speaking in Iowa, clearly rebutted the false charge.

Interestingly, both candidates are campaigning in state carried by Gore in 2000.

Hmm.

The Bush camp needs to put an ad together attacking that Democratic piece of trash bill.

Hmm.
He took a lesson from the republicans.
Repeat a lie enough times and people will believe it.

The bill was voted for by, what, two Democrats? That's not exactly the entire party.

That theory was best used by Adolf Hitler.  Damn effective.  I've used it a few times.

The bigger the lie the better.

Bush has a built in counter though.  He needs to run an ad with Rengel pushing the draft and then tie Kerry to Rengel.  End the question asking who wants to reinstate the draft again?

Well, I'm glad you acknowledge the Kerry statement was a lie.

Would you care to post the "lies" being promulgated by "the republicans." including the specifics of the lie, and the place it was uttered?

I guess two wrongs make a right in that regard.

John Kerry should step above the fray and just keep his mouth shut on this draft debate. Otherwise it's just an act of desperation on Kerry's part to reiterate a lie.

I posted the substance of an allegation made by Kerry, including the city where he made the allegation.

The Democrat who responded, admitted that Kerry's allegation was a lie, but suggested that 'republicans' had made other lies,

I asked to a concrete example of the 'republican' and the 'lie.' with the locale of the lie being made.

No answer.

Hmm.

What Bush needs to do is to continue his vow for an all-volunteer army as he has said before and convince people that KERRY wants to instate the draft, and mention how Kerry wants to expand the military and that will either mean less defense at home or drafting.  He also needs to continue to let people know that Kerry is for big government and socialist policy, with his healthcare plan, spending plan, tax plan, and defense plan.  Kerry is the real one who wants the draft and never said he wouldn't have one, just that he wants to expand the military.

So if Bush is elected every person under the age of 26 gets drafted.
If Kerry is elected every person in a wheelchair will get up and walk according to Rev. John Edwards.

Hmm.

Bush clearly rebutted what?
He was against, then for, then against the draft - all in one speech.

What speech was that?  The one you misquoted?

Well, er, you must remember that both Kerry and Edwards are shysters, and as such, er, they have a professional 'right' to er, twist the truth (what if other people did it would be called, 'lie.')

Theyre' getting desperate, I think. Both bogus flu vaccine charges to the draft, and Bush has refuted both effectively.

Two names to thank for the draft stuff: Fritz Hollings and Charlie Rangel. Hollings is leaving. Unfortunately, Rangel will still be around.

Stop whinning </joke>

It is a fair game. Nothing different than Kerry saying "I won't raise your taxes" during the second debate and Bush follow up with "Of course he will raise your taxes"

Tell me where the difference is and I will agree with you it is a scare tactic.

My point - both sides use it, so we'll have to live with it.

Sorry Friar, but,

Kerry is on the record as supporting a wide variety of tax increases,

so,

Kerry's denial (recently) that he won't raise taxes is merely a statement which contradicts his record.

Moreover, as was pointed out in the third debate, Kerry's spending program is far in excess of revenues which would be generated by merely taxing the rich.

To put it in the form of a syllogism.

P1.  Kerry has stated he favors a 'pay as you go' policy where spending won't increase faster than revenue.

P2.  The only group Kerry has publicly singled out for tax increases are the rich (200 K per income or above).

P3.  The tax increase on the rich will be insufficent to fund the programs Kerry has proposed.

Ergo,

a.) Kerry will increase taxes on other people (his record), and/or
b.) Kerry will spend less on his programs than he has promised, and/or
c.) the deficit will increase under Kerry as the increased taxes will be less than the increased spending.

However no matter how you slice it, Kerry would have to violate at least one of the promises he made in this area.

Based on Kerry's record, I believe he will proposed raising a wide variety of taxes (not only on the rich), AND Congress will not let him spend as much as he proposes, AND the deficit will increase.

Hey ... it is 2 years later and guess who wants to expand the military?
