Title: Establishment of Opebo Day Bill (Debating)
Post by: Franzl on December 15, 2009, 03:50:40 PM
1. The sixth of October is hereby designated "Opebo Day", a federal holiday.
2. All federal institutions are to be closed on this day.
3. This is in honor of Opebo's infamous "Max Hardcore" quote which was originally issued on that date in the year of 2005.

What is supposed to be the "Max Hardcore" quote?

Well, I'm not sure I want to know...

Wow.

Well how I'll vote on this if it makes it through this process should be obvious.

Mint, your term begins in January. You won't vote on this bill, if all goes well.

Sure, lets have Fritz Day, too!  And Fluffy Day, and Hamilton Day..........

Seriously, while I like Opebo well enough, he doesn't deserve this kind of honor.  Also the holiday will likely get forgotten- I don't think anyone remembers Dave Day anymore.

I thought we had a policy of reducing unnecessary holidays, not adding them.

Strongly Opposed. If this passes, I shall introduce a bill to bring about the creation of a NC Yankee day for you to remember my glorious and numerous contributions to this country. :P

Of course I don't 'deserve' such an honor, Senator, the people do.  And most particularly the children.  Think of the Children Senator.

I would love such bill:

Kalwejt Day

The date of day when Kalwejt break 42 post average is hereby declared a day of national mourning. All institutions are closed and all childred shall cry under a threat of imminent execution.

A tough one...
On one hand, it's not that big of an issue, and since it appears a lot of people want it, what's the big deal? But on the other, if we get this started, we'll have dozens of bills flowing through establishing days for other Atlasians. This could set a bad precedent.

What exactly warrants Opebo to a holiday? I've never been quite sure.

Have you no public spirit, sir?  A country is not merely bricks, mortar, and machine guns.  It has a soul, sir, a soul.  And the Children need to know it.

Absolutely nothing. I have been urging the Senate to end this stupidity and to have this bill tabled.

By that I mean, TC's opposition is better than any argument I could make for the bill...

Yes, but what did you do to deserve a holiday? Perhaps sometime after your death you will have one, honorable Justice.
