Title: Re: American Parliment Post by: yougo1000 on May 15, 2010, 02:04:03 PM In early 1791 the Parliament assembled and elected James Monroe as the Speaker of the house of Commons. The first piece of legislation was: The Taxation and Voting Acts. It establishes the rules of taxes and voting.
Prime Minister Jefferson was facing hard times. England had bad relations with the US and the Ottoman Empire looked like it was preparing for war. George Washington was under a ton of pressure about his job, he didn't want to become king. Then on May 22nd 1792 the Ottoman Empire declared war on England. |
