Title: John McCain/John Engler vs. Hillary Clinton/Mark Warner 2004, with a twist
Post by: Bo on April 11, 2010, 04:01:21 PM
McCain wins the Presidency in 2000. 9/11 still occurs. McCain goes into Afghanistan, overthrows the Taliban, and captures bin Laden, bringing him to trial in the U.S. McCain does not invade Iraq (and the WMD problem there is solved when Saddam allows the U.N. inspectors to return). On the domestic front, McCain pushes through some enrivonmental legislation, camapign finance reform, and tax cuts for all Americans. A budget deficit is also created in 2002, 2003, and 2004. The economy goes into a recession in 2001-2003 and fuel prices begin to increase in 2003 and 2004. Also, no new jobs were created in McCain's first term. The GOP renominates McCain in 2004. The Democrats nominate Hillary Clinton in 2004, who attacks McCain for his lack of job creation, low economic growth, high fuel prices, tax cuts for the rich, and the deficit. She promises to return the U.S. to the economic prosperity of the 1990s and to decrease fuel and energy prices. McCain emphasizes the economic recovery in 2003-2004 and his successes in domestic and foreign policy. Bill Clinton also actively campaigns for his wife. Who would win? Discuss, with maps.
