My fellow Northeasterners,

I am announcing my candidacy for Governor of the Northeast in the October Gubernatorial Election.

I promise to work hard to better your lives in the Northeast. As one of your Representatives, I have worked to help pass legislation that ensures that our brighter days are ahead. In the Northeast Assembly, I've ayed legislation that saves taxpayer money, makes healthcare more affordable for all Northeasterners, protects animals, combats HIV/AIDS, etc.

As Governor, I will work with the Assembly to drive the 12% unemployment down. As Governor, I will reach across the aisle to find common-sense solutions that all parties in the Northeast can agree on. As Governor, I will listen to all ideas from any party, and you will be free to give suggestions in my office. As Governor, I will work hard to ensure that your liberty will pass down to future generations. As Governor, I will never forget to open the voting booth for Assembly elections.

Thank you for listening. Dave bless you, Dave bless Atlasia, and Dave bless the Northeast.

With the October Elections approaching us fast, I thought I might expand my platform so that Northeast voters will know what they're voting for.

  • As Governor, I will push for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Northeast Constitution. The Northeast Assembly has already ratified the Balanced Budget Amendment, but it still needs to be placed to a vote, and I will do so if Governor Brandon fails to do so before the Elections.
  • As Governor, I will push a Constitutional Amendment limiting the members of the Northeast Assembly to 6
  • As Governor, I will work with the Northeast Assembly to produce legislation that all of us can agree would be beneficial to the Northeast. I'd like to spur more activity in the region, and hopefully bring more citizens into the folds of the Northeast.
  • As Governor, I will follow the strict letter of the law, especially in elections. You can count on me to open up and close the ballot at the correct time.
  • As Governor, I will push to institute a quarterly, or a six month budget.
  • As Governor, I will push for a Constitutional Amendment eliminating the need for a quorum in a Constitutional Amendment.

To the best of my knowledge, the September results were never properly ratified by the CJO. I posted a thread about this a while back BTW: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=124400.0

The CJO still has yet to ratify the results, unfortunately. However, it is indicative of a massive inactivity slump in the Northeast - something that a Governor Han is capable of remedying.

Citizens of the Northeast,

I am honored to have been elected by you with a resounding mandate. I know full well the responsibilities that await me, and I will work hard to make the Northeast the shining city on a hill that we've all dreamed of. Starting from today, the work begins now. I will listen to all sides of the political spectrum, for we are all Atlasians. I am aiming to bring unity, activity, and prosperity to the Northeast, and we start today.

Let's make the Northeast great again.

Sincerely,

There is currently a vacancy in the NE regional Senate seat until Friday the 5th of November, due to the early resignation of Senator Dallasfan65. As such you have the ability to appoint a temporary replacement to serve as Senator until the beginning of the next Senate, when Eraserhead shall be seated.

If I'm not mistaken, three votes have passed, and (I believe) four Representatives whom were elected did not take their seats - you will have to hold a special election.

Actually, nothing requiring the governor's attention has passed, but 3 representative-elects (AndrewCT, who declined the seat, Gramps, and incumbent rep. JustW353) have not taken their seats.

But you can wait on the special elections.  In fact, you could just forget about holding them at all . . .

Governor, you declared this amendment to have failed ratification in the Northeast despite it having passed 7-4, supposedly due to "less than half of Northeasterners voting".

The Northeast Regional Constitution does not overrule the Atlasian Constitution. There is no turnout requirement for federal constitutional amendments. It merely requires a simple majority of voters to pass.

You seem to have misinterpreted the meaning of the Constitution in a way lacking precedent. The original Intra-Regional Mobility Amendment was ratified in the Northeast with a total of just 10 voters.

Quote
The Senate, whenever two-thirds of its number shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of this Constitution when ratified by a majority of the People voting in public polls in three-quarters of the Regions. Such votes shall last for exactly one week and shall be administered by the Governor of the Region or other officer as the Law of the Region may provide. Citizens will cast their vote by public post.

Oh, I thought there was a turnout requirement for citizens voting, because the Constitution said (as you pointed out): " which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of this Constitution when ratified by a majority of the People voting in public polls in three-quarters of the Region"

It seems though, that precedent is not on my side, and I do not wish to engage in a lengthy legal battle. I will change the outcome to go along with precedent.

I'm personally conflicted about the bill, and I need time to think about whether to sign or veto it. If I fail to do anything within the 10(?) days that I have allotted to me by the constitution, then the bill will automatically become law without my signature. Of course, all citizens are welcome to try to convince me either way on this issue.

Governor, I think this bill ought to be signed. Humans have natural instincts that generally prove to make correct decisions in life-altering situations, even ones so simple as a potential terrorist buying a gun. Had that gun clerk been able to prevent Loughner from buying the gun, Congresswoman Giffords would not have been shot. The clerk had an instinct that Loughner was not right in the head, which shows that human nature presides over law in some cases. If this bill were to become law, I feel we could see drastic reduction in violent shooting crimes and assassination attempts.

Thank you for your time.

Title: Re: Office of Governor Han

This Bill will address one very specific circumstance, however, the broader issue of gun availability is completely ignored.

I was also very conflicted about my vote, but in my mind it invites discrimination, and at the same time is a very superficial restriction that would be impossible to enforce and I personally consider it a little gutless.
