Title: I will now accept my accolades

I tried to tell you what was going on.  I really tried.  This looks like a landslide, folks.

Ummm, not quite over yet, mypaldouche.  If you were anywhere close to right, I'll give you some kudos, but it's a little early to be blowing your own horn.

Clearly, the 70% turnout in central PA was for Kerry.

Exit polls mean something, but they don't mean the world.

So far as I know, we'll know the real answers tonight.

too funny.

i reckon we should just go ahead and concede the election on the basis a few internet rumors.

It's not really a landslide if Kerry wins Ohio and Florida by 3%.  But who cares...things are looking good, not just from the exit polls (which are conflicting and not trustworthy), but from the way people on the networks are talking, and the reactions of Republican blogs.

I tried to tell you what was going on.  I really tried.  This looks like a landslide, folks.

what was your prediction?

Well, I predicted a Kerry victory (and said Bush had to be in Ohio and Florida more), and I also said that the GOP GOTV 72 hour plan would be very ineffective.  And it looks like I was right.

Republicans are just letting Democrats pretend like they are winning so they can quote Lee Corso:

"It looked good early. But it got real bad late."

Good grief. I'm absolutely positively certain there will be an excuse, so what's the point.

The oddest thing is that he wasn't all wrong. His point was that Bush was, relatively, *much* weaker in the Upper Midwest than most people thought, and that much was quite right. He also claimed that this meant Bush was doomed, and I'm still laughing.

Title: Re: I will now accept my accolades
Post by: Niles Caulder on November 04, 2004, 12:28:45 PM
Lewis brings up a good point.

I think both parties may have been guilty of this logical fallacy to a degree, but Democrats obviously more so:

They were very familiar with which districts traditionally go their way, and they know that the margin of victory in their own friendly regions have historically indicated how the remaining neutral and unfriendly regions play out.  Ordinarilly a (relatively) Excessive Crush in their friendly districts indicate an edge in swing districts and a significantly respectful fight in ordinarilly unfriendly districts.

In this election, the turnout was tremendously high, but was so for both Wings.  Both polar regions had Excessive Crushes that in the final analysis, cancelled each other out.  The Democrats were proceeding under the assumption a high turnout would favor them as it indicates popular disatisfaction--but that extra turnout was split down the middle from the polar opposite wings.  So of course, it came down to the mushy middle once again, that broke slightly but significantly for Bush.

That map is a joke.  That guy even had Georgia,  Alabama and Missisipi going for Kerry for God Sakes.   Atleast be realistic.  I could make a map showing Bush carrying New York, Rhode Island, and Massachussettes.  But would I ever have any credibility again if I did such a thing?

The is partizanship, which I don't object to, and deceptions so great as to be outright lies, which I do.  You guys are partizan, which is fine.  A few others are not.

If I posted the half-truths, like Kerry comes from a family of drug dealers and committed war "attrocities," I should deserve the flogging they get from me.  Being delusional at best, is not.

Yes, he was.
Possibly a paid one, even.

I just looked over all of his posts since he joined.  He posted this right after the 1st debate.  He doesn't even do a good job of covering up the fact he was a troll.  Anybody with half a brain can see right through him.  Here's the first post he did after the 1st debate:

"Whatever the exact numbers are at the moment, the fact seems to be that Bush has clearly lost all momentum, and there will have to be some major "October Surprise" to change the dynamic.  I do a little volunteering for Bush/Cheney in Wisconsin and you can't overestimate just how much damage that first debate did to the President.  Most, if not all, of the enthusiasm is gone now.  We'll see what happens, but I'm not optimistic and if you're a Kerry supporter, it looks like a lot of good news is ahead for you."

LOL.  Nothing like claiming you work for one candidate and trying to pump up the other side.   If he was a true Bush campaign worker, even the most pesimistic one on the planet, you would think he would be more than happy to come out and admit that he was happy that he was wrong.

I've been in campaigns where I was so disillusioned that I've felt that way.  The candidate is usually at the point of lying to his staff and/or state party officials.  One of these cases is where "J. J.'s Second Rule of Elections" was developed (though proved time after time, since).

That said, FriendFriedFlounder was inaccurate when he said that WI was in trouble for Bush, as the polls indicated.  Soooooo, you really had to ask how connected this bozo really was.

Actually the Kerry campaign DID in fact have volunteers who "monitored" blogs, chat rooms and BBs. I saw a report about it on CNN. They had a whole room of  volunteers who were each on a different site and "monitoring".

Ok, but simply bumping up the thread without actually contributing to it, merely for the purpose of making someone look bad, seems to me to be in poor taste. I fail to see what is gained by beating the dead horse over and over again.

I'm not defending the guy, just saying, ok, we get the point, it's time to move on already....

As pointed out, this cyber fish fry is because of friendfriedflounder did, and because it's pretty clear that he was spreading disinformation.

If I started posting stories about the 'poor' African American turnout in Phila, I would deserve this treatment.  Instead, I poste accurate information, as I observed it.

I'm sure he still wonders in from time-to-time but doesn't post. I'm sure we will hear from him in a week or so and perhaps he will state that Hillary is leading in the exit polls in the 2008 election, so there is no need for voters to show up and vote for the republican candidate. After all he is a volunteer for the *insert name*/*insert nane* 2008 campaign and would have this inside poll information.

Foolish and silly to predict victory based on a slim lead in a very early exit poll of a few swing state(s). Anyone who would do that doesn't have any experience. And anyone who has ever worked the polls on an election day can reasonably observe that the later it gets the more GOP turns out.

And this guys was a Bush campaign volunteer. That makes me laugh.

lol, this topic is still up here and going strong. :) Hey, I'll contribute a post every now and then. :)

I don't hardly ever rub something in, and in fact I didn't even discuss the election with my Democrat friends until they brought it up. But this one needs some rubbing in. I just can't believe anybody serious would make these kinds of predictions and guarantees based on early, slim leads in exit polls of swing states. A landlside? Oh, please. This is really funny. I just read it through from the beginning for the first time since election day. I'm smiling. Gosh, I hope Fishy didn't take the proverbial bridge. He seemed pretty convinced, even for a believer in a lost cause. :)

You'd have thought someone just shot their puppy or something.

Yeah, I didn't even bring it up. A few I didn't even hear from until about Sunday, it was like they were in mourning. Then the other half just dismissed it with an I don't really care, I can't stand either one of them. Then on the other hand, the GOPers were calling me the next morning. Watching election returns is almost like watching the Super Bowl and the media frames it that way, so I guess they do a good job of grabbing everyone's attention. Almost everyone I know watched at least part of the returns, depending upon where they were. We even get a pre-game show of sorts.

Keep it going. You're right about many Democrats suddenly dismissing the results as if they didn't care. Many of these same people wouldn't shut up 24 hours before about this "being the most important election in our history." Funny that.

Here is what he actually said:

I tried to tell you what was going on.  I really tried.  This looks like a landslide, folks.

what was your prediction?

Well, I predicted a Kerry victory (and said Bush had to be in Ohio and Florida more), and I also said that the GOP GOTV 72 hour plan would be very ineffective.  And it looks like I was right.

 Thats my favorite one!

It's time for Make A Conspiracy Theory!

Today's is as follows:

CollectiveInterest's map was completely right; the only issue is that [circle one: the CIA / the FBI / Diebold / Halliburton] and other [circle all that apply: government agencies / conservative hacks / previous Cheney employers / Bush supporters] [circle all that apply: rigged the election / suppressed minority voters].

The other night , there was a Simpsons episode on.  For those of you who are familiar with every Simpsons episode like I am, it is the one where Bart joins the junior campers and Bart and Homer get trapped on a raft out at sea with Flanders and his son.  Well, Homer tried to catch a fish using a Cheese doodle on the end of his line to help keep them all from starving.   A fish did bite, but the  line completly came off the reel and the fish swam away:

HOMER:  Don't worry.  He'll be back

(hours later)

HOMER:  (exhausted)  Here fishy fishy fishy fishy.  We're waiting.

When I saw that, I immediately thought about Mypalfish and this thread.   :)

How could the dolphin afford to buy a house?
He prawned everything!

1st kipper: 'Smoking's bad for you'
2nd kipper: 'It's OK, I've been cured'

What kind of fish is useful in freezing weather?
Skate!

What do you call a fish with no eyes?
Fsh!

What lives in the ocean, is grouchy and hates neighbours?
A hermit crab!

What do you get from a bad-tempered shark?
As far away as possible!

Why did the whale cross the road?
To get to the other tide!

This thread has served a vital purpose for which we should genuinely thank the fishy one.  Republicans, having done very well this cycle, want to gloat.  We can do so in a completely acceptable way by coming into this thread.  Heck, some of our democratic colleagues have popped in to mock our friendly forum fish.

So come back to us, Nemo.  We need you to accept this, your genuine accolade.

LOL, I can't believe this thread is still up at the top. Since the board has decidedly slowed down since the election, I say we keep it going at least till Inauguration day.

Reading through the beginning of this again, I'm reminded of an old buddy who hasn't made a guarantee [about much of anything] since one of the Bills/Cowboys Super Bowls in the '90s, 1993 maybe. "I'm tryin' to tell you Cowboys it's gonna be ugly for you..." He guaranteed the Bills would run away with it. He was a big Buffalo fan. Well, to my knowledge, that's the last guarantee he made. Maybe... wait a minute. That might have been Fish!

From the Seattle Times, this article puts to rest the talk that the Florida vote count was flawed.  Conservative Democrats in north Florida voted for Bush overwhelmingly in spite of their party registration.

"Florida newspaper finds no evidence of election fraud
By Meg Laughlin and David Kidwell
Knight Ridder Newspapers
LAKE BUTLER, Fla. — Since President Bush captured Florida and the White House again, critics have fixed their sights on northern pockets of the Sunshine State and asked: How did the Republicans win so heavily in counties stocked with Democrats?
Some wondered whether Florida's tally was corrupt, with one Internet site writing: "George W. Bush's vote tallies, especially in the key state of Florida, are so statistically stunning that they border on the unbelievable."
The Miami Herald last week went to see for itself whether Bush's steamroll through north Florida was legitimate. Picking three counties that fit the conspiracy-theory profile — staunchly Democratic by registration, whoppingly GOP by voting — two reporters counted more than 17,000 ballots over three days.
The conclusion: no conspiracy.
The count of optical-scan ballots in Suwannee, Lafayette and Union counties showed Bush whipping John Kerry in a region where registered Democrats outnumber Republicans 3-1.
The Herald found minor differences with official results, most involving ballots that had been discarded as unreadable by optical-scan machines but in which reporters thought the voter's intent was clear.
Under the optical-scan system, voters fill in an oval or darken an arrow by a candidate's name. A machine reads the card optically.
Kerry solidly won the battle in South Florida, but Bush won the war by dominating everywhere else in the state, particularly in the 52 counties that use optical-scan ballots, which can be checked for accuracy.
Republicans often had done fairly well in those counties, but this year more so.
Democrats outnumber Republicans by about 340,000 voters in the 52 counties, but Bush took them by about 340,000 votes — a 680,000-vote swing that assured him of victory.

The Herald focused on three counties that represented some of the more severe disparities between registrations and votes, beginning Monday in Union County, where more than 75 percent of registered voters are Democrats.
"People here traditionally register as Democrats to vote in local primaries, but they're very conservative," Union County Judge Dave Reimer said. "When I came here in 1983, there were only 54 registered Republicans in the whole county."
Election Supervisor Babs Montpetit was more direct. "People here are mostly fundamentalist Christians who work in the prisons," she said. "Do you think they're going to vote for the liberal senator from Massachusetts?"
The Herald total: 3,393 votes for Bush, 1,272 for Kerry. Fifteen votes couldn't be counted clearly.
The county's official total: 3,396 for Bush, 1,251 for Kerry and a few dozen that couldn't be counted.
The next stop was west a bit, in neighboring Suwannee County. Election Supervisor Glenda Williams greeted reporters at the election office in Live Oak: "Most people in this county are against abortion and gay marriage. So, they voted for Bush."
The Herald counted almost 60 percent of the votes in Suwannee, where nearly 64 percent of voters are registered Democrats.
The newspaper's total: 6,140 votes for Bush and 2,984 for Kerry, which nearly matched the county's official tally.
Next stop: Mayo in Lafayette County, where 83 percent of voters are registered Democrats. Along the way were neighborhoods called "The Christian Village" and a warehouse called "The Christian Outlet." One billboard said: "There is life before birth."
Four years ago, the Florida vote was so tight, and so flawed, that the Herald counted every questionable ballot. The results weren't as close this time, but questions remained. Reporters told Lafayette County Election Supervisor Lana Morgan the newspaper had come back to end the speculation.
"Good," she said. "You don't know how frustrating it is to convince people who are set on believing something — even if it's not true."
The reporters' total: 2,452 votes for Bush and 848 for Kerry, with 20 that couldn't be counted clearly. The official county total: 2,460 for Bush, 845 for Kerry and others that couldn't be counted.
Morgan invited the reporters for an early Thanksgiving dinner in her office, but they had to return home, driving to the Jacksonville airport past Snoball stands, chicken farms and anti-abortion billboards."

I'm not gonna pick on you, Vorlon.  I'm just gonna pick on people who have handles named after amphibians that claim they volunteered for the Bush campaign, but love to spread dishonest rumors about how his own campaign is in trouble and lost all confidence while at the same time promoting any good news for the campaign he is suppose to be working against.  Then these people keep on saying "I tried to tell you what is going on.  I really did."   and then asking for accolades the afternoon of the election based on some faulty exit polls.   Then going silent after the election over and they have been exposed for the fraud trolls they really are.

If the above paragraph doesn't describe you, then you have no need to worry.  Cause us Republicans won't pick on you.

Kerry will win, and Bush won't carry Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Michigan or Iowa.  The decision to waste time and money there will be proven to be idiotic.  And the GOP GOTV 72 hour plan will be a flop.  Everyone remember  this prediction and you can congratulate me later.

And if you are beyond wrong, can we point our fingers at you and laugh?  ;)

Why did you go around this forum pretending to be a Bush volunteer and crying out about how bad the Bush campaign was being run?

No one believed you and no one was going to believe you because (frankly) it was ludicrous on the face of it.

I am also wondering what you hoped to gain out of it.  Panic out of the Bush people or something?  Really, what was the point?

And finally, do you look like this in real life?

He's the most sought after poster now that we are not in election mood and we have nothing to do.   With no real polls to disect and analyze for the next year or so,  Vorlon has earned a well deserved vacation.   But as soon as truth and clarification is needed, we'll all be asking for Vorlon again.  If mypalfish is still around and posting when the next round of national elections heat up, we'll all be telling him to go away as he has lost all credibility here on this board.

Okay.  Fair enough.  I'll stop giving mypalfish a hard time now.  This thread has been more fun than a poster should be alowed to have, atleast it's been if you're a Republican.   But I guess even the funnest parties have to come to an end sooner or later.  The election is over and it's time to move on.  With next year being an off election year, I probably won't be visiting this forum quite as much, atleast until the 2006 mid-term elections start to heat up.

The only issue I really have with mypalfish is the thing with him working for the Bush campaign.  I still don't believe he was, but only he knows the real story and it's not that important to keep harping on.  All I have to say is that if he really was working for the Bush campaign, then he is beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst campaign worker in the history of national elections.  Not even the Kerry supporters on this board were as eager to spread as much doom & gloom propaganda about the Bush campaign being in trouble as him.   This thread is evidence of that as the afternoon of the election, he was so anxious to gloat over what he had been saying that he started way too prematurely based on exit polls and rumors.   He was ready to party even before the vocal Kerry supporters on this board were.    He can talk about working on the campaign, going to rallys, and shaking hands with the president all he wants.  He can say he did the macarena with Bush, Cheney, the Twins, and Karl Rove, but nothing will ever convince me that he was anything more than a Democrat Troll.  Not that I really care, even if it is true.  And like I said, only he will ever know the real story.

But oh well, it's been discussed more than enough and he has definenlty recieved his just punishiment with these 21 pages.   And as a previous poster has pointed out, it's given republicans on this board an excuse to gloat and extend their celebration after a hard fought win.

The Kerry campaign was clearly able to bring so many people out that it had 115% turnout in a number of Madison districts.

Bringing out more voters than people who live in a precinct, county, etc. is a certain way to ensure that you'll win whatever race you're in.

I don't think voter turnout exceeded population. Even if it did, it may have been a technical glitch like those 3,800 extra votes in Columbus for Bush, when only 600 people lived there. Were those fraudulent votes? I say no, but if you assume there was fraud in Madison with no evidence whatsoever, it's intellectually dishonest if you didn't also believe that the 3,800 votes in Ohio weren't also produced by fraud.

If population increases over time, then voter turnout could exceed the official population total, since that's based on the 2000 census.

Okay, the action on this thread has died down significantly, but not entirely since mypalfish came out of hiding.  Now, I'm all for moving on and not beating a dead fish.   But to say that he's apologized is just not an accurate statement.   He has only posted twice since the election ended and he stuck his foot in his mouth by starting this thread.   You got this one:

Nope, go ahead, I deserve the thrashing.

and this one:

Nope, go ahead, I deserve the thrashing.

I'll let you go, fish, for good, if you'll answer two more questions for me.

()

Actually, I really was a volunteer for the Bush campaign in Wisconsin, and even got to shake the President's hand after the rally at the Arena.

BTW, I'm quite a bit younger than that Abe Vigoda pic...

No where in either one of these two posts does he appologize for anything.  He just says go ahead and thrash me and then still insists that he really was a Bush volunteer who actually got to meet the president and shake his hand.  Of which I still don't believe a word of.   I truly find it insulting to my intelligence that somebody would try to pass themselves off as a Bush volunteer to make their claims of the Bush campaign being in peril and in a state of dissaray have some kind of validity and expect me to buy that pure and utter crap.   You see, I really did volunteer for the Bush campaign and I gave up an awful lot of my free time to help the President get re-elected.   And everyone I worked with, even when poll numbers looked bleak for Bush, would never even dream of saying the things that this guy was saying right up to the election.  For fish to try to pass himself off as a Bush volunteer and then never miss a change to try to spread doom and gloom throughout the election is a disservice to all of us who worked our tails off to get him re-elected.

I'm all for moving on and letting this issue die.   And I'm not trying to get him to appologize cause I could care less if he ever does or not.   But to say he's come clean and appologized is just not accurate and needs to be pointed out.  The fact is that he has NOT APPOLOGIZED for anything, nor has he admitted that he did anything wrong.  And I hardly call saying "I deserve the thrashing" as being humble about it.

I'll say it again...I did volunteer for the Bush campaign in southeast Wisconsin.  And, yes, I did get to briefly meet the President and shake his hand before the rally at the old Milwaukee Arena (in fact, there was a post where I said Bush would be coming to town BEFORE anything was made public...hmmm, wonder how I knew that?).  Whether you like it or not, there was considerable pessimism among the "helpers," which began in earnest after the first debate, when Bush's 2 point lead in the state dissapeared.  The momentum was never regained, and I correctly stated that Bush could not win here, but had a great shot at Iowa where he was maintaining solid traction.   IIRC, I also said Bush had a real chance in New Mexico and that Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Pennsylvania were all out of play and campaign stops there were a waste of time.  I certainly deserve the criticism for predicting a Kerry victory, but I did make quite a few correct calls, too.

So keep firing away at me, and you can even say I was a terrible volunteer, which may be true.  But I am not a "troll."

Whatever, Fish.   Like I said, I really was a volunteer for the Bush campaign.  And I met a lot of great people this past election while volunteering.  Some were in their 70s and 80s and knew that this might be the last election they'd ever see.   And  We weren't always joyfully optomistic about Bush's chances to win.   But not one of us would have ever gone out and proudly spread the kind of doom and gloom you did in the weeks leading up to the election.

You took every opportunity thrown at you to say that Bush was toast and was going to lose.  And on election day, the first chance you had you came here to gloat and tell everyone you were right.   And for what?   So you could come to a message board and gloat to a bunch of strangers, who wouldn't know you if they passed you on the street, and say how right you were in predicting your own candidate's downfall?  The way I see it, this either makes you a troll or somebody who's truly got his priorities out of whack.  Even if there was any truthfullness in what you had to say, what purpose did it serve to come to a political message board that is used by Republicans, Democrats, and Indepenents and continue to say all that crap.  Seems like the only purpose it would serve would be to depress the Bush voters, the very same ones that you as a campaign worker (or so you say) are suppose to be trying to get to go to the polls and vote.   There's a fine line between being pesimistic about your campaign's chances and gleefully and joyfully anticipating every bit of bad news and spreading it around with the utmost pride.  Not once did you ever acknowledge or say anything good about Bush of his campaign.  But you took every tabolid story that portrayed the Bush camp as being in peril and every poll that showed Kerry leading and you posted it here like it was your own personal golden trophy.

Why don't you do us all a favor.  When the next campaign rolls around, please go work for the Democrats.   Because we don't need your kind on our side.

Let us hope Bush wins WI or MN...so that nothing depends on OH in the end.

EVERYTHING depends on Ohio.  Bush will not win Wisconsin or Minnesota.

On the other hand:

Kerry will win, and Bush won't carry Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Michigan or Iowa.  The decision to waste time and money there will be proven to be idiotic.  And the GOP GOTV 72 hour plan will be a flop.  Everyone remember  this prediction and you can congratulate me later.

And if you are beyond wrong, can we point our fingers at you and laugh?  ;)

It would be interesting to know how many current posters are still here because of this one thread.   I joined this board in late summer/early fall of last year mainly for the soul purpose of getting election news and the inside details on all the polls.   When the election ended, I didn't have any plans to stick around here.   But this one funny ass thread is what kept me coming back here for the next two months after the election.   Had it not been for this, I can almost guarantee you that I probably would have never visited this site again after the election was over.

I wonder how many other people this thread kept from leaving this board.

This thread points out why you so urgently need a good sense of humour and a great deal of humility in politics.

Polls are great, and the usually work....

But sometimes they just utterly blow up.

Just about all of us got little bits of Election 2004 wrong.

Sure I'll take a bow for having Bush up 4-6% in Florida pretty much the entire year.... I am also the guy who was pretty sure Minnesota was a dead heat... so we all screw up.... :)

If Kerry had won, somebody else would have taken this beating...

"So it goes".... :)

I don't understand what all the concern on polls were with this race.

The polls of the last week of the campaign (esp. state polls) were for the most part dead-on, when you averaged them together.  As I continually thought long throughout the campaign, what few undecideds there were broke evenly.  That breakdown was what got Gallup in trouble and made Pew look so good.

Only those who trusted the exit polls got shelled (witness this thread).

Of the state polls in the battleground states, the average nailed Ohio, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, etc.

The only major screw-ups were Florida (towards Kerry), which is a state where you don't trust any polls anyway and 99 times out of 100 they oversample the Democrat; Wisconsin (towards Bush), where some interesting hijinks were going on anyway; and Hawaii, which just was because of lack of polling.

You are correct....  You notice my "signature" picks on EXIT polling... :)

Other than Florida, which the polling consensus said was a dead heat, the Pollsters had a good year.  Even in Florida, Mason Dixon (the only poll you should ever trust coming out of Florida anyway) basically nailed it having Bush up 4% at the end.

Just about everything else the average of the polls was within a % or two of the final result...

The funny part isn't the result of the election; it's that the poster so surely proclaimed he was right right before the facts punctured his theory.

If this had been a poster telling us how he was an "insider" with the Obama campaign and how Keys was going to win, it would be just as funny.

Not really though, because it would have been so obviously fake, while here it was a close race, so we can assume that mypalfish actually believed  what he was typing. If someone insisted Keyes would win, we'd all think he'd have been joking.

I don't disagree with making light to some degree with someone's inaccurate prediction, but does this thread really merit being stickied?

This just seems ridiculous to sticky this, unless we are going to start stickying stuff like when AuH20 predicted Harris would win in Florida.

True, but there really is a difference of degree here.  All of us have sort of occasionally wacky and dead-wrong predictions 12 to 18 months out from that we may post in a thread here and there.

It's a totally different thing to be saying "day of election" when only exit polls and rumors of exit polls are out that the election is most certainly over already and then make a thread detailing this fact.

That is an error of the greatest magnitude for those of us talk and predict elections.  It's like pitching and throwing a game-winning grand slam to lose the World Series.

Yeah. I agee it's the stupidest prediction anyone has ever made by far, but still, why sticky it? Is it sort of like putting skulls on the town walls in medieveal times, a warning to other posters that they better not make any ridiculous predictions or else they will suffer the same fate?

If the guy had come out and just said he thought Kerry was going to win, nobody would have thought twice of it.  But this dumb a$$ tried to make half the people on the board look stupid by saying he tried to tell everyone that Kerry would win and nobody would listen.  Well guess what, the joke was on him.  And it was him who wound up looking stupid.   So let this serve as a lesson to  everyone else not to taunt people before the final chicken has hatched.

This thread was of vital importance in November of 2004.  It kept the winning side from taunting the losign side.  Instead we all came in here and taunted mypalfish.  Its stickying also serves as a reminder to, as said by the angry one, not count your chickens before they hatch.

And there are some damn funny posts in here.

I don't think so.  If I recall correctly, mypalfish claimed to be a Bush supporter (and didn't he even claim to be a Bush insider or something?) who always went around telling people how badly Bush was going to lose in 2004.  Then as early exit polls were coming in, he/she made this post to gloat before like any states' results had come in at all.

How about this prediction for the Senate?
()

https://uselectionatlas.org/PRED/SENATE/2006/pred.php?action=indpred&id=1489

Oh, it even comes with a comment:

Quote
Changed FL, NY, DE, and ND to GOP

FL- Republicans will realize there are forever endebted to Katherine Harris for 2000

NY- Even NY will realize Hillary is a fool

DE- Jan Ting will likely make the turnaround necessary, otherwise Castle will step in

ND- Too conservative of a state and there should be a last minute ballot switch to Hoevan

Even if we do 7 seats worse, its still a veto proof majority

Considering changing CA as Mountjoy is gaining momentum, also thinking about Raese dropping out, Byrd dying and Moore winning th win. Also a last-minute run from Tommy Thompson would give the GOP WI. Mitt Romney could take out Ted Kennedy, so Bingamen is really the only "safe" Democrat, and he still might be defeated

skewered lengthwise, and roasted over an open fire.
