What would have been the best possible scenario for Mondale? If Reagan had continued to stumble in the debates and he had appeared more "senile," what effect would that have had?

Reagan dies from the gunshot.


That is the only way he might've been only too win.

Reagan would've won all 50 states and 60+ percent of the vote on a sympathy vote.

I don't see how Reagan, being dead and sh*t, would be able to run for re-election.....

Best possibility for Mondale:

Reagan would have to accidently leak a gay sex orgy of him and every male member of his cabinet before Mondale would score in the hundreds.  They would all have to end up getting the AIDS, for the win.

Best possibility for Mondale? Reagan not running.

Reagan is shot in late October, before the ballots can be changed.

Reagan dies of a stroke/heart attack in October.

Reagan goes on a shooting spree at a veteran's hospital, bombs a church, and urinates on the American flag before killing himself naked in front of kindergarteners in late October of 1984.
