Title: The homelycooking New York Town Maps Thread Post by: homelycooking on February 21, 2011, 07:11:55 PM I am writing to you, friends, as I have nearly completed a great project. Over the past two months I have gone grubbing county-by-county in New York for election results statistics. I made nearly forty phone calls, sent twelve letters, spent nearly $30 of my own very limited money and spent hundreds of hours banging away on my laptop computer and it's still not done. But it's very close. I have not recieved statistics from only three of New York's counties and have complete statistics from five different elections in over fifty. So I have started to assemble some maps, and will post them here for your viewing pleasure. I will fill in the holes in the maps as I finish up the data collection.
I'm proud to say that I can assemble (nearly complete) maps and data sets from any race in New York from the 2006, 2008 and 2010 general elections, the 2008 presidential primaries and the 2010 primaries, with only a few exceptions. I await your requests. Yours truly, hc Title: Re: The homelycooking New York Town Maps Thread Post by: RI on February 21, 2011, 07:14:55 PM Presidential primaries please. :)
Title: Re: The homelycooking New York Town Maps Thread Post by: homelycooking on February 21, 2011, 07:24:08 PM Presidential primaries please. :) Sure. I am missing four counties: Lewis, Ontario, Nassau and Suffolk (exorbitant prices!), but the rest looks pretty damn good. 2008 Democratic Primary: () 2008 Republican Primary: () Title: Re: The homelycooking New York Town Maps Thread Post by: JohnnyLongtorso on February 21, 2011, 08:57:14 PM Would the 2010 Comptroller race be at all interesting? It's the closest we've gotten to a 50/50 statewide race in New York recently.
Title: Re: The homelycooking New York Town Maps Thread Post by: homelycooking on February 21, 2011, 09:18:39 PM That map is about half complete. I will put some more work into it. So far the only Democratic wins upstate are in the cities (Utica, Syracuse, Albany, Buffalo), in Tompkins County and way up in the North Country. Wilson managed to win Salamanca and Geneseo.
Title: Re: The homelycooking New York Town Maps Thread Post by: RI on February 22, 2011, 12:51:21 AM The 2010 Governor's race would be interesting, just to see the divide between the Buffalo area and the rest of the state.

The 2008 R map has red as McCain, green as Romney, and yellow as Huckabee. Can you list the major cities and towns that voted for Obama in the primary? Certainly Ithaca, Poughkeepsie, Buffalo, perhaps Rochester if I'm reading the map correctly. Title: Re: The homelycooking New York Town Maps Thread Post by: homelycooking on March 08, 2011, 09:22:43 AM I won't be able to finish it in the near future. Very soon I'll be getting the results for the four upstate counties I'm missing (Monroe, Lewis, Hamilton, Westchester), but the prices that Nassau and Suffolk Counties have demanded for photocopies of their canvass books are exorbitant, so I won't be able to acquire the results unless I get some research funding.

It seems weird that one township likes lazio. I think it has to do with the strength of Gregory Edwards (Lazio's running mate) in Chautauqua. Edwards is from the county, though he lives in Jamestown, not Clymer (the green township). Clymer is also relatively small (population 1500).
