Thompson was a major candidate even though he screwed his entrance as bad as Gingrich. Once he got in he just didn't try and thought the campaign would come to him. That could change, but I have a feeling the major players are already set for this cycle in the Romney/BAchmann/Paul folks. Perry becomes a major player if he runs, and if Rudy runs, he'll become a major player and hurt Romney.
